Stranded!

Stranded defined:

• To put or leave somebody in a difficult or helpless position.

Have you ever been trapped, cut off, marooned, left high and dry, stuck or abandoned? Well all of those situations just mentioned are words related to the word stranded.

Have you ever locked your keys in your car and could not get in contact with anyone? Now if you think about it most people have spare keys to their cars, houses, offices, etc. But most often times you don’t have the spare with you when you need it most. Spare keys are generally kept in “safe places” or with people you could readily contact if you lost your keys or locked yourself out. Spare keys are usually not in your pocket. Having a spare key at home in your closet does not seem helpful when you are at the grocery store locked out of your car. Actually, at that moment it may seem useless and silly to have a spare key that you can’t get to. How inconvenienced it may seem to have to call or wait on someone to take you to get that key.

In a similar way, sometimes people become stranded in a spiritual test or trial because they left their faith at home in a safe place, “the bible.” They find themselves in the middle of a hard situation and realize that the faith they need to go forward is at home in their bible. They begin to call people on their emergency “faith” call list to give them a spare but no one is at home. “Where is faith when you need it?” they replied. It’s in the pages of your bible where you left it.

Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth. But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy. And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him. Luke 8:22-25

We must be those who keep our lights burning and our faith on full so that we are never stranded by circumstances!

Weapons that Win!

2Corinthians 10:4-5

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

When you are faced with a tough situation, what weapons do you use? When someone wrongs you, do you reach for the weapon of retaliation and revenge or do you reach for forgiveness and peace? When life circumstances seem impossible what weapons do you reach for? Do you reach for self-pity, food,  medication, human confirmation or do you reach for the word of God and see yourself as God sees you? Do you reach for assurance and confirmation in His Word? The weapons of our warfare are not natural human weapons but our weapons are spiritual and they are from the Father God, who always wins!

We must use these weapons from God to reject, resist and remove every thought and imagination that opposes God will in our lives. We must use these weapons to maintain our enemies defeat. God did not leave us here on the earth without protection and provision. He did not leave us here to be a victim of the enemy. We have weapons that win!

Precious Ointment!

Matthew 26:6-13

Now when Jesus came back to Bethany and was in the house of Simon the leper, A woman came up to Him with an alabaster flask of very precious perfume, and she poured it on His head as He reclined at table. And when the disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, For what purpose is all this waste? For this perfume might have been sold for a large sum and the money given to the poor. But Jesus, fully aware of this, said to them, Why do you bother the woman? She has done a noble (praiseworthy and beautiful) thing to Me. For you always have the poor among you, but you will not always have Me. In pouring this perfume on My body she has done something to prepare Me for My burial. Truly I tell you, wherever this good news (the Gospel) is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will be told also, in memory of her.

This woman honored God with her best. She could have went and bought some cheap oil and pretended in front of the people to be doing something noble, but her heart was not to impress those standing around looking. She wanted to honor God. This woman obviously took to heart all that Jesus had been saying about His death, burial and resurrection and sought to honor Him in helping Him to prepare for His ultimate sacrifice.

Jesus is coming back soon just like He said. There are ways we who believe can honor Him and prepare for His soon arrival. Choose today and every day to honor Him with your best. He is worthy!

Are You Listening?

Habakkuk 2:1-4

I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

Today is a good day to stand still, quiet yourself before the Lord and see what he would have to say to you. In the quietness of your heart let His voice rise up and fill your whole being. God is a speaking God. The word of God reminds us in many scriptures, ” He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” We are the church and God is seeking to communicate to us His will, His passion, direction, correction, instruction, life, peace… Are you listening? Purpose in your heart today to practice listening to God. Take example from the prophet Habakkuk and stand on your watch and see what God would say to you. God is searching for ears that desire to hear Him.

True Riches

Proverbs 10:22

The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

The word “rich” in that scripture means: to prosper, to build up, to make straight or erect.

God does not tear or beat us down, nor does He degrade or devalue His people. He builds and causes what was lame to be made whole and what was crooked or broken to be made straight. God is a Healer not a destroyer.

We are so honored and highly favored to be a part of the great host of those chosen to be a member of the family of God. Our God is such a wonderful, compassionate, faithful Father. He loves His children more than we could ever humanly comprehend. God would never do anything to discourage or bring harm to His family.

Ephesians 1:3-4 (amp)

May blessing (praise, laudation, and eulogy) be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) Who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual (given by the Holy Spirit) blessing in the heavenly realm!

Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love.

Now that’s true love!

If you have ever questioned Gods love for you, this should reaffirm and settle in your heart and mind how much He truly loves you. God is a giver not a taker; He is not a thief or a miser. The devil comes to steal, kill and destroy but God comes to bring life and life more abundantly.

The blessings of God never come with sorrow attached to them but rather joy and thanksgiving. It brings God pleasure to do good for His children.

Today would be a good day to thank and praise God for all the good things He has done for you. Go ahead and let all heaven and earth hear and see your joyous praise for your God, who is worthy!

Gentleness

Psalms 18:35-36

Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.

Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.

Gentle defined: having a mild and kind nature or manner.

The Lord is a wonderful Lord. God’s nature is gentle. He is not a mean angry God. God is love and love is gentle. God’s dealing with man has always been rooted in tender mercy and loving kindness. It seems so weird that anyone could ever not love Him. He is extremely affectionate and very passionate. His love is tangible and full of expression. God is not rough or cold in His fellowship with us. He is warm and comforting to those who love Him. His approach is kind and His manner sweet. God’s gentleness makes us great because gentleness is a fruit of love and love is the foundation of all true greatness.

As you live a life fully controlled by the love of God, the fruit of gentleness will lead you to greatness.

Choices and Voices!!

John 10:4-5

And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

The Bible says that there are so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification (1Corinthians 14:10).

God is not expecting you to listen to every voice in the earth and follow it. He made it simple for us. Jesus said “My sheep hear my voice and they follow me.”

This makes our choices easier. When we receive instruction from God, we don’t have to think twice about rather we will follow His instruction or someone else. Our answer should always be, “Yes Lord, I’ll obey you.”

Too many choices sometimes bring confusion to the hearer. We sometimes go through life asking everyone for their opinion about our situation and never stop to ask the one who knows–God.

Jesus said as His sheep we would flee from the voice of strangers because we know not their voice. Any voice that does not agree with God and His word should be considered strange and God has given us permission to flee from it. God is the only one who will go before us and always lead us in the right direction. So as the voices of this world clamor for your attention be confident and know that the Good Shepherd has all the instruction and direction you need for a safe journey through this earth. Follow Him.

The Well!

John 4: 4-6

And he must needs go through Samaria. Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.

(READ THE ENTIRE CHAPTER OF JOHN 4)

Many times during the day and throughout our busy work week, God is trying to get our attention. God is trying to lead us to the well. Yes, the well.

The well is a place where sinners meet forgiveness. The well is a place where broken hearts surrender to the voice of healing. The well is a place where secret issues of the heart are uncovered and new life discovered. The well is a place where man encounters God. The well is a place where lonely hearts gather and find a friend that sticks closer than a brother. The well is a place where the lost are found. The well is a place where miracles happen. The well is a place where spiritual thirst is quenched with living water. The well is a place where chains of bondage are broken and every captive set free. The well is a place where eternal life flows. The well is a place where destiny is unveiled and our true God given purpose prevails. The well is a place where questions of the spirit and soul are answered. The well is a place of Divine appointments. The well is a place where the rejected and outcast encounters open arms of divine acceptance. The well is a place where fears are conquered. The well is a place where grace abounds. The well is a place where the anointing of God flows, lifting every burden and destroying every yoke. The well is a place where dreams meet reality. The well is a place of freedom.

Jesus traveled many miles one day to get to a well. His steps of obedience brought deliverance and life to a woman who was in desperate need of freedom. His steps of obedience changed a whole city.

Can God lead you to a well today? Maybe the well God wants to lead you to is a grocery store where a new widow needs words of encouragement. Maybe the well God wants to lead you to is a family member, a beautician, a bus stop, a hospital, a boss’s office, a neighbor, a frightened child, an abused wife, a lonely single woman, etc. No matter the place there is grace to meet ever need. Open your mouth and let words of life and healing virtue flow and bring salvation to many.

Finish Strong!!

Many things in life can drain you of physical and spiritual strength if you allow them the opportunity. The enemy seeks your demise and there are no if’s, and’s or but’s about that statement. He will stop at nothing to suffocate your dreams and abort your God given destiny and purpose. However, you must do your part to stay strong in the Lord and in the power of His might by putting on the full armor of God.

Let’s go deeper. Come on, let’s uncover and exterminate the enemy’s strategies to make null and void the strength of the Almighty in your life.

Have you ever been in a hot place? I mean a place so hot it was difficult to take a deep breath. Direct heat can be very exhausting on the physical body. It can drain you of strength necessary to complete your daily task. Certain outside temperatures can cause the body to become so hot that it begins to lose vital electrolytes and bodily fluids causing a person to have blurred vision, mental confusion, physical weakness and lethargy, muscle spasms and more. If no intervention is taken to remove the heat source and reverse its effects the person can end up in a critical life or death situation.

If we compare this same scenario to the spiritual life of a believer, we can begin to see some similarities. John 10:10 reminds us that, Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. Whenever he has opportunity he will turn up the heat in your life with the intent to drain you of spiritual strength, blur your spiritual vision and try to cause question or confusion concerning the direction in which God would have you take. Heat or fire is one of his strategies to try to make you doubt the word of God and withdraw from the good fight of faith. Heat often can produce a feeling of suffocation or a lack of good air exchange which can cause panic.

Suffocate defined:

• To feel uncomfortable through excessive heat and lack of fresh air, or make somebody feel uncomfortable in this way.

• To confine and restrict somebody or something with adverse effects, or be or feel confined and restricted in development or self-expression.

The enemies purpose in this is to restrict, confine, and enslave you so that your spiritual growth and development will be retarded and cause you to become shipwrecked so that you do not complete your course in Christ. However, John 10:10, also reveals to us that Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly.

If you are wondering why the word “might” is present in that verse, it is because you have a part to play. God needs your cooperation in order for you to live a victorious abundant life. God’s plan for your life is that you finish your course and finish it strong! Gird up the loins of your mind. Put on the full armor of God. You are a child of God. You are more than a Conqueror. Pick up the slack, tell the devil to pack, get off your property and don’t come back. WE ARE THE BODY OF CHRIST! WE ARE THE CHURCH OF THE LIVING GOD! Lift your head, square your shoulders; focus your sight and purpose in your heart to MARCH ON and FINISH STRONG!

Pardon Me, Do You Have the Time?

If someone would walk up to you and ask you the question, “Do you have the time” what would be your response? Would you look down at your wrist and notice and reply: “Sorry, I don’t do watches” (by the way the Bible says to watch and pray)? Or would you just ignore them altogether and keep walking on your merry way?

Time defined:

• an appointed, fixed, or customary moment or hour for something to happen, begin, or end

• an opportune or suitable moment

• a historical period : AGE

Have you ever heard the phrase, “Well it’s about time…”

Well in all honesty maybe it is. The Bible actually says, “It is high time.” That doesn’t mean we should all run out and get high on drugs. That means this is a crucial moment in history…it is an urgent window of opportunity…it is now time! It means we must act and we must do it now! High time is red alert! It is no more excuses, no more fooling around time. It is “let’s get down to business” time. Do you get the picture, my friend?

Romans 13:11-12

Besides this you know what [a critical] hour this is, how it is high time now for you to wake up out of your sleep (rouse to reality). For salvation (final deliverance) is nearer to us now than when we first believed (adhered to, trusted in, and relied on Christ, the Messiah). The night is far gone and the day is almost here. Let us then drop (fling away) the works and deeds of darkness and put on the [full] armor of light.

We must realize what an awesome moment in the history of God’s church that we live in. We must take full advantage of the opportunity we have to be His witnesses and demonstrate His power and love. It is high time to show the world what a good and mighty God we have. It is time to display the goodness of God in the land of the living.

What time do you have? Is your schedule too full? Is there any time left in your busy day to give God some say in your agenda? Are you making time for His will to be revealed in your life or are you making excuses? What time do you have for miracles? What time do you have for mercy and salvation in the lives of the lost? What time do you have to feed the hungry and give water to the thirsty soul that says? “What time do you have, ma’am? What time do you have, sir? Can I stop you for just a moment and take a few minutes of your time? Please don’t be anger with me I just need to know do you have the time?”
