Precious Ointment

Matthew 26:6-13
Now when Jesus came back to Bethany and was in the house of Simon the leper, A woman came up to Him with an alabaster flask of very precious perfume, and she poured it on His head as He reclined at table. And when the disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, For what purpose is all this waste? For this perfume might have been sold for a large sum and the money given to the poor. But Jesus, fully aware of this, said to them, Why do you bother the woman? She has done a noble (praiseworthy and beautiful) thing to Me. For you always have the poor among you, but you will not always have Me. In pouring this perfume on My body she has done something to prepare Me for My burial. Truly I tell you, wherever this good news (the Gospel) is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will be told also, in memory of her.
This woman honored God with her best. She could have went and bought some cheap perfume and pretended in front of the people to be doing something noble but her heart was not to impress those standing around, she wanted to honor God. Sometimes people do things to impress other people in an effort to sway their opinion of them or for some other selfish gain. Trying to impress people is empty labor; very hard work with little or no gain. This many times can lead to unnecessary emotional pain, frustration and disappointment. The truth is that it’s only when we please God can we have a fruitful and successful return on our investments. Human beings can never reward you like God can.

Jesus said, How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only? (John 5:44)

Impress defined

  •  to affect or please somebody greatly. To have a strong, usually favorable effect on the mind or feelings of somebody.

The woman who poured costly perfume on Jesus was focused on honoring God not people. She chose to hear from heaven and follow through with the instructions that filled her heart and mind. Honoring God has everything to do with following His plans and purposes. When we live a life that overflows with rich wisdom from God, it will always lead us to do the right things for the right reasons and be at the right place at the right time.
This woman obviously took to heart all that Jesus had been saying about His death, burial and resurrection and sought to honor Him in helping Him to prepare for His ultimate sacrifice.

Jesus is coming back soon just like He said. There are ways we who believe can honor Him and prepare for His soon arrival. Choose today and every day to honor Him with your best. He is worthy!

Deleted!

On most keyboards and computer options, there is a delete button which gives a person the choice to erase what they see.

Delete defined:

• To score out or erase something that is printed or written.

This mean we can totally obliterate something from our files or disk just by the mere push of a button. When you delete something, there is no trace or memory of it. As a matter of fact, if that was the only copy of it, it would be hard to prove it even existed.

Hebrews 10:16-18 NLT

This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord:

I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds. Then he says, I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds. And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.

God has deleted things from your past and mine. He has totally erased them from our history. The words “never again remember” have the same meaning as “delete”. God has erased the bad and downloaded the good. Oh, I’m so glad for that heavenly delete button, aren’t you? All the plans and strategies the devil plotted against me to destroy me were all deleted in an instant. The enemy thought he could destroy me because of my past sins, but glory to God they were all deleted in the blood of Jesus. There is no trace or memory of them, as a matter of fact, it’s as though they never existed. Hallelujah! Deleted by the blood! Deleted by the Blood!

The wonderful thing about this delete button is that it works on all the enemies weapons and destructive strategies. When he attempts to flood your mind with ungodly thoughts and imaginations, just go ahead an press that delete button. When he tries to put sickness and disease on your body just go ahead and push that button. When the enemy tries to thwart the plans and purposes of God in your life just go ahead an press the button. Our button represents the name of Jesus, the Word of God, and the power of the Holy Spirit. These all agree for your victory. So don’t hesitate to press your delete button and live free from the weights and sins sent by your enemy. Praise the Lord God Almighty!

Are You Online?

When you are online on a computer your status is considered active. This can apply in the spirit as well as in the natural. To be active is to be: lively, energetic, vigorous, full of life, on the go, full of zip and dynamic. When a person’s status is offline they are considered to be inactive. To be inactive is to be: motionless, stationary, unmoving, immobile, stopped, stilled or dormant.

What is your status, are you on or off, active or inactive?

Jeremiah 1:12 describes our God as being an active God, “Then said the Lord to me, You have seen well, for I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it.

God is not dormant or stopped, He is on the go doing His will and fulfilling His good pleasure. God is not asleep on the job, He is not only alert but He is active. God is always online, in step and right on time. God is never late but always ready and willing to participate in bringing His word to pass in our lives. The bible reveals that the word of God is active, operative and energizing.

For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12 AMB)

As children of God we should be developing into looking just like Him. If God is active then we should be active or change whatever is inactive in our lives so that we can look more like Him. When I refer to God being active I don’t mean He is busy running all over the place from one thing to another, frantic and chaotic. No, God has purpose in everything He does. His activities are not driven or controlled by the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and pride of life; they are not vain or selfish. God’s activeness is born out of love. Love never fails.

Looking like God means doing what we see Him do and saying what we hear Him say.

James 1:25 says, “But he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing (his life of obedience).”

We must be active doers of God’s word not just hearers. You can fool some of the people some of the time but you can never fool God. Being a hearer of God’s word only, will bear fruit of inactivity. It will be evident eventually that this person’s status was offline. Sometimes people will log on to their computers and appear to be online but in reality they have walked away from the computer and have become distracted by something else. Have you ever known someone who outwardly appeared to be actively doing the word of God and obeying His will but in reality they have spiritually walked away and are distracted by other things? We are considered active when we hear and do what we hear. We become active through practice and participation.

So what is your status, are you on or offline, active or inactive?

He That Believeth

Mark 16:16-20

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

The Lord said here, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved…” Well, what should they believe? In the book of Acts chapter 16:30-32, explains it quite well, “And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.”

Wow, what a powerful display of the grace of God. These people got saved because Peter spoke unto them the word of the Lord and they believed and were converted.

Romans 10:13-15 declares, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”

God loves people, all people and He sent His Son to prove that love.

The only way that people can get saved is that they first hear the gospel and then they must choose to believe and receive. The only reason that the church of the Lord Jesus Christ is still here in the earth is to preach the gospel and make disciples of men. We have been given this great commission by the Lord Jesus Himself. Let us not lose sight of the true reason we are here. Let us stay focused and tell the Good News so that people won’t be damned but rather saved. It’s not about us it’s about Jesus, the world must hear about Jesus, our Redeemer, our Savior!

Don’t Park the Ark…Without Permission

Genesis 7:5

And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him.

Noah entered into the ark at Gods command. The building of the ark and all the details and instructions all came from God; this was not Noah’s idea. Noah did not get together with his family and come up with this plan so that his name could be spoken of for generations to come. God commanded Noah and Noah obeyed, not just some of what God had spoken but all. Noah’s motives were pure and his obedience glorified God.

I think it is very important to note in Genesis 8, that Noah did not veer from God’s original plan nor did he begin to incorporate his own ideas or alter what had been commanded of him. It is so vital that we all learn from Noah’s faithfulness and stick with the plan that God has for our lives. God entrusted Noah with a very crucial assignment. The future of all mankind was dependent upon Noah’s obedience. I know you might be thinking, “well that was Noah, my assignment from God is not that vital, it won’t have a universal affect.” Well you are wrong, every human being that comes into this earth their life and purpose has a very vital part to play in the whole of God’s plan. Every life is significant to God; don’t underestimate the course that God has set before you it can be life or death to the people that God bring across your path. Noah had precious commodity on that ark: all were created by God’s own hand. God loves and values everything He created, nothing is insignificant or useless.

No word from God is without power or value. God never speaks an idle word. When God spoke to Noah, He was not just trying to find someone to have an idle conversation with because He was lonely. No every word that God speaks is spirit and it is life. When God speaks His words automatically begin to bring about what He said. When God spoke to Noah, he valued and held precious each word that God said. Noah set out to prove that He believed and trusted God by doing what God had asked him to do. Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15

Noah not only began the work that God commanded of him but he finished it. When the rain stopped and the waters began to reside I’m sure Noah was tempted to get out of the ark. The bible records in Genesis 8 that Noah looked out of the ark and could see that the ground was dry yet he remained in the ark until God said, “Go forth out of the ark.” I’m sure Noah and his family was ready to go to the next phase of God’s awesome plan but they waited on the Lord to give them further instructions. God had just saved Noah and his family from death; I think it was wise and honorable for Noah to see what God had to say next. Sometimes people begin following the plans that God have for them and then they lose patience and don’t wait on God for the next step. They think oh I know what to do next, “Hey, Jesus, I got this, you go ahead and rest, I can take it from here.” No we must allow God to direct our every step.

The scripture declares, “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” Philippians 1:6

Let God begin and end your course don’t take matter into your own hands, you will ultimately fail. God has the master plan for your life; follow Him, even when it doesn’t seem popular or appreciated by the multitude just stick with God’s plan. God will never lead you astray, so don’t play with your destiny, seek and obey Him. Don’t forget to wait on God for the next step in His plan, be patience and don’t jump out ahead of Him, let Him lead the way. When we follow God’s plan our ark will arrive at the right destination, in step and on time. So don’t get out your boat, stay a float, until God says go!

Power Outage

In the natural world it is very easy for a power outage to occur, a little wind, thunder and lightening and BAM your lights blink. Man’s natural equipment doesn’t seem to compare or match up with the natures fury. However there is a power that is greater and far more superior than anything other power. THE POWER OF ALMIGHTY GOD!

In the life of a believer, storms both spiritual and natural present a wonderful opportunity to display the awesome power of God. We should never have power outages. We must stay full of the power of God.

Jesus dominated spiritual and physical storms.

Mark 4:38-40“And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?”

WOW! No power outage there just a full manifestation of dunamis!

God wants us to look just like Him in every situation of life, even during a storm. God has fully supplied every believer with power to be a witness. We are witness of Christ when we dominate storms. We are witness of Christ when we cast out devils and lay hands on the sick and see them recover.

Power outages happen in the lives of those who are luke warm. Power outages happen for those who do not believe. Power outages happen when we neglect reading the word of God and fellow-shipping with Him. Power outages happen when we stay more in tune with the world than praying and being sensitive to God’s Spirit. Power outages happen when we live in the flesh and not in the spirit.

God did not leave us here in the earth without power.

Luke 10:18-20 (AMP)

And He said to them, I saw Satan falling like a lightning [flash] from heaven. Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are enrolled in heaven.

Rise up child of God and use this awesome power, there is a great demand in this hour. Don’t let the lightening strike your tower. Stay awake and alert on your watch, don’t let the lights go out on your block.

Today

Psalms 118:24

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Today is a special day. Why? Because God created it. God created today with a unique purpose. This day was made so that you could express joy and be glad. God did not create this day so that bad things could happen to you. He did not create this day so that you could experience hardships and be tormented with fear. God did not create this day for accidents and tragedy to destroy families and friends. God is love. There is no darkness or evil in love. God is merciful and kind. God is always seeking to bring good to all.

God is the author of the dawning of each new day. Today is a day neither you nor I have ever seen before. Although today may seem very similar to yesterday, it is not yesterday, it is a brand new day. You may think that there is nothing special or different about today but it is.

STOP! LOOK! LISTEN!

You are experiencing something you have never experienced before. You are experiencing, TODAY! Come on, think about it, and let it sink way down on the inside of you. You and I are so special and loved of God that He would create another day just for us. God brought forth another sun rise and another sunset just for you.

Today was not here yesterday, but it showed up right on time today. Rejoice and be glad!

Just think God creates everyday just for you so that you can rejoice and be glad in it. Joy needs a place of expression. Today you have 24hours to demonstrate and participate in the fullness of the joy of the Lord. This day was created for joy! Go ahead, rejoice and be glad in your today!

No More Smoke Screens or Fog Machines

Ephesians 5:15-17

Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil. Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is.

How can we as Christian live accurately? The word accurate implies being precise, exact, true, perfect and correct. To some these words may seem overwhelming. Thoughts may arise in their minds, “But I’m not perfect, nobody is. How can God expect this of me?”

Rest assured, God will never ask you to do something that He has not already equipped you to do. God is a just God. God is never unfair. He will never burden His children with impossible task or unattainable life goals and unreachable destinies. Everything God requires of you is fully attainable because of who and what He has placed in you. God has given us His Word (the Bible) and His Spirit (the Holy Ghost) so that we can live purposefully, accurately and worthily. The Holy Spirit lives on the inside of every believer to guide and lead us through the course in this life that God has individually chosen for us. He will never leave or forsake us.

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

That word Comforter means helper. The Holy Spirit is with you to help you live accurately. If you will cooperate with Him, He will always lead you into the perfect will of God and help you fulfill exactly what the Father’s will is for your life.

The above scripture warns us not to live vague. That word vague speaks of being hazy, unclear and blurred. Have you ever tried walking around town with blurred or impaired vision? It’s very easy to stumble and fall when you can’t see properly. The scriptures declare that your future is bright not hazy. God has given us spiritual insight and revelation so that we can see beyond the flesh, the world and the devils smoke screens and fog machines.

Through the prophet Habakkuk God reveals to us how we can know the will of God. Listen.

Chapter2:1-3

[OH, I know, I have been rash to talk out plainly this way to God!] I will [in my thinking] stand upon my post of observation and station myself on the tower or fortress, and will watch to see what He will say within me and what answer I will make [as His mouthpiece] to the perplexities of my complaint against Him. And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may [be able to] read [it easily and quickly] as he hastens by. For the vision is yet for an appointed time and it hastens to the end [fulfillment]; it will not deceive or disappoint. Though it tarry, wait [earnestly] for it, because it will surely come; it will not be behindhand on its appointed day.

Habakkuk had purposed to position himself to hear what God had to say to him. God did not disappoint or become angry with Habakkuk because he wanted answers concerning his future. God wants to show every believer great and mighty things (Jeremiah 33:1-3) but we must be still and position ourselves to hear. Once we have gotten instruction from God we can then go forward to live a life accurately, worthily and purposefully before Him. Don’t wander through life with unanswered questions concerning your destiny take the time to get the right answers from the one who knows, God!
