Life in the Word

John 1:4

In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

This passage of scripture in John 1:4 is speaking of the Word, which is God. Everything we will ever need, want or desire is in the Word. The Word was made to be flesh and lived among man-kind for a season of time.

In the Word there is life, not mere ordinary existence but true life. This life is self-existent, it needs nothing or no one to exist. The scriptures reveal to us that Jesus came in the world so that we might have life and have it more abundantly. He did not come to bring death but rather life. The life of God is the Light of the world. God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all. There is no evil whatsoever in God. He is pure and holy. The life that God gives to us is pure and holy, uncontaminated by sin and death. Every born again believer in Christ has this life on the inside of them. This life of God is what drove out all the darkness from our past sinful lives. This light brought illumination to our spirit man, I once was blind but now I see! Praise God! Praise God! Praise God!

When people in the world see that great light shine forth out of you they are beholding the life of God. This life is so awesome it cannot be hid under a bushel; it cannot be controlled, manipulated or corrupted by the world, flesh or the devil. It is off limits to such sinister forces.

I am so grateful for this life it has totally made me a new creation. When I look back on my past life before Christ came to live in me, I become over-joyed and filled with praise and honor for my risen King. He rescued me from the hand of the enemy and gave me new life; no one else had the power of life to set me free. He did it all for both you and me!

So lift your head up high and put a pep in your step, a glide in your stride and be bold as you tell the world how great it is to be filled with the life and light of God.

Confidence

1John 5:14-15

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Confidence defined:

  • Belief or trust in somebody or something, or in the ability of somebody or something to act in a proper, trustworthy, or reliable manner.

It is so important for us to have confidence in God. Many people may think that when you become a Christian that this happens automatically but it does not. Human experience can often-times interfere with our confidence. For instance if a person had trust issues prior to being born-again due to failed relationships such as abandonment through divorce or neglect through improper parenting from childhood, it may be difficult not impossible, for them to immediately trust God with every area of their lives.

They truly love God but they need detoxifying of their soul (mind, will and emotions) and body from the hurtful  incidences of their past. Trust is established through experience. If someone tells you they will be there for you when you need them, then when opportunity arises they fail to come through, this can cause disappointment which in turn nurtures insecurities and cultivates mistrust.

When a baby is born there is a phase of normal growth and development called trust versus mistrust. If trust is to be established in that child’s life they must experience repeated positive interactions with the one in whom the trust is to be established with. This has to be done on a consistent basis to form a sort of bond with the other person. The child learns to trust or mistrust you based on your response to their needs. If you are consistent to come and attend to their needs when they cry they begin to trust and rely on you above all others. When they see your face come into a room they get so excited because they trust you and they know you will protect them, feed them, change them, comfort them, etc. Some of these things you may have never even done for them yet but because of your consistent positive response in other areas of their lives they trust you to be the same regarding new adventures as well.

God is trustworthy. But the best way to establish trust in any relationship is by experience. You can say that you trust God because of what you’ve heard Him do for others but nothing compares to your own experiences with God, they become priceless as you grow and develop in your relationship with God.

Another way that we can begin to develop confidence in God is through consistent meditation in His Word. God’s Word is alive, it is spirit, it is life. The Word of God has the ability to create supernatural knowledge and understanding in your spirit and soul to the point where you begin to know God in ways you have never known Him before through spiritual intimacy and fellowship. This kind of relationship is obtained through spiritual hunger and diligent seeking. His Word creates the bond of trust through the supernatural unveiling of who He is.

Trust and/or confidence promotes dependency. When you trust God you will begin to depend on Him for everything. You will come to Him for anything and involve Him in all things. You begin to understand and take full advantage of His love for you. You know without a shadow of a doubt that He will withhold nothing good from you. You become bold and confident in prayer knowing that your will is to do His will. Your confidence is unshakable concerning the Father. You know that He loves you and that He hears you and that He answers you.

Don’t Postpone Your Assignment From the Throne

Proverbs 18:9    He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.

Procrastinate

• to postpone doing something, especially as a regular practice

• synonyms: put- off, delay, drag your feet, postpone, dally, defer

Procrastination and hesitation will oftentimes rob you of your destination.

When we put off the things God has asked us to do we dishonor Him. Many people are quick to say, “Oh yes, I love the Lord” but then don’t do or put off doing what He has asked them to do. Jesus said, “the person who has My commands and keeps them is the one who (really) loves Me …” John 14:21 (AMP)

It is not flattering to God for you and I to verbalized fluffy excuses as to why we put off doing His business. Procrastination is a close relative of neglect. While we have those who put off doing God’s business we also have those who do start the work and don’t finish but rather allow the work to sit in a corner and rot,  decay and /or deteriorate. The quality of the work becomes inferior to that which is customary of the Kingdom of God.

The word neglect means to give little attention or respect to.

We become so busy doing our own thing that we give no attention to our God given assignments. We drag are feet when it comes to pursuing and doing God’s will in our lives, ther is always tomorrow to do that we proclaim with no shame or remorse. We accept and practice procrastination as if it is the new normal of the Kingdom of God.

Procrastination is a viper that strikes at the heart of our God given destiny. It will not let up until it pulls you down to the ground of unfulfilled dreams and fruitless visions. However, we don’t have to let it fulfill its course in our lives we can fight back.

The bible says, “for the weapons of our warfare are not physical weapons of flesh and blood but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds, … 2 Corithians 10:4 (AMP)

God has given us every tool and strategy we would ever need to have victory over the destructive devices of darkness. We can destroy the strong hold of procrastination with the mighty weaponry of God. Psalms 107:20 reveals to us that, “God sent His word and healed them and delivered them from all their destruction.” God’s word can set you free from the enemy of procrastination.

We must effectively arm ourselves with the Word of God and keep ourselves pure from thoughts and ways that would cause us to put off doing God’s will.

The plans and purposes that God has for your live are not a joke, they are not insignificant. Every assignment giving to you from God is vital to His over all plan for humanity. A delay from you today could be life or death to someone’s tomorrow.

God loves you so very much and He needs every member of His body to be in its place and actively participating in His plan.

God has the plan all mapped out, all we have to do is follow Him. God wants you to complete your journey successfully. Our end in Christ is and always will be good, that will never change. So stay on course, focus, pick back up those things you have dragged your feet in. Determine today that you will not live a shabby Christian life but you will pursue and do all that God has entrusted to you with excellence and joy.

Jeremiah 29:11 declares, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. The scripture says there is an expected end.

What Not to Wear

Romans 13:14

But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

There are certain things Christian’s should not wear. We must dress for success. I am speaking of our spiritual garments not a dress you buy at Macy’s.

We must dress everyday for victory. The scripture says, “Put on the Lord Jesus”. Everything Jesus represents and is should be in and on us.

We must on purpose strip off wrong, harmful attitudes and BEHAVIORS. We must refuse to wear the garment of division and strife. We must never enter the store of worldly lust with the intent to buy or sell. We must never borrow clothes of offense.

In the fashion world, some colors or patterns don’t match. We cannot wear some garments of the flesh and some of the spirit, they clash.

Before you leave the house, look in the spiritual mirror, the Bible. The Bible is our perfect standard and guide book for, WHAT NOT TO WEAR.

Put on love, gentleness, self-control, peace, and joy. Slip on the sweater on faithfulness. Put on your hat of truth. Look at you, you’re looking good now. Walk with confidence, you got the look.

If you are fashion illiterate, seek help today. There is no limit to YOUR ACCOUNT, go ahead splurge, God’s got the tab.

Gentle Giants

Giants are known for their size. They are many times portrayed as fierce and dangerous to encounter. Many child hood fairy-tales when I was a child would equate giants with monsters who hid out in secluded areas away from society. Most people were afraid of them and did not want to be around them. They were generally displayed as having super-human strength and great power, and rarely lost battles. However I would like to talk to you today about a different kind of giant.

Giant defined:

• Somebody whose talents or achievements are particularly outstanding.

1Peter 5:5-6

Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Humility gives birth to gentle giants. These giants are taller and bigger on the inside than they are on the outside. Their strength is supernatural and is released through their submission to God. Their courage is a by-product of meditating God’s Word both day and night. They are not insecure or self conscious because they don’t look like everyone else in their submission to God. They allow love to determine their path in life and relationship to others as they consistently welcome every opportunity to put others needs before their own. They use their strength and power to help others around them, not to tear down and cause hurt.

These are gentle giants and they live among us every day. They are committed to kindness and love and are a dangerous force against the spirit of fear. They stand far above others in their loyalty and work.

They are gentle giants whose height in life is a result of their submission to God. They are lifted up by God Himself for all to see a demonstration of His power resulting from humility.

So be diligent to resist pride and keep it defeated way under your feet. True giants are the creation of supernatural humility.

How Far Are You Willing to Go?

Every now and then the question of Destiny should grace your thought life and flood every imagination of your soul. Questions such as: Do I know where my life is headed? Where am I and How did I get here? Who told me to pursue the life and dreams I now seek to fulfill every day? What and whose plans am I following for my life? Why am I not satisfied with the progress my life has made? Am I making progress toward the fulfillment of my God given destiny or am I no further than when I first begun? What hindrances to my Divine Destiny do I tolerate, looking the other way in hopes that they will just someday go away? What weights and sins do I allow that beset me from day to day? What is my response to the voice of procrastination, laziness, worldliness, fear, insecurities, distractions, carnality, boredom, loneliness, pride etc? Am I truly growing in my walk with God or am I pretending just to impress others? Is there a marked difference in my spiritual growth and development or have I just become merely religious? How serious am I in knowing what the will of the Lord is for my life? Who is truly leading my life; the flesh, the world, the devil, the Holy Spirit or me? What fuels my daily passions? Is it the Word of God or is it just an unfulfilled fantasy?

Before you flippantly rattle off answers from your head to any of the above questions take a minute and ask the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, to help you. Many people can give what appears to be the right spiritually mature sounding answer to all the questions yet their own life bears little fruit to what they just said. Life here on earth is short; it’s time to get sober. Do you really know where you are on your Divine Course? Do you know where you are going?

STOP, LOOK, LISTEN!

Its okay to turn around and head back to the last place you definitely heard God direct you if you have gotten off course. Repent and turn, now! God loves you and He wants you to finish the course He has set before you. You need never be ashamed, God is joyfully waiting on you to lead and guide you in the way that you should go. Don’t be distracted by what everybody else is or isn’t doing for God. Don’t worry about John, you follow Jesus!

On the other hand maybe you are one of the many Christians who are right on target and making tremendous progress on your course. Well, keep on keepin on with God, my sister, my brother. There is more ahead, stay steady, never dread, just keep your spirit nourished and fed. Be bold to conquer new territory as you are lead by the Holy Spirit. Continue to grow and mature as you run your race; don’t forget to encourage and help others when you meet them from day to day. Stay excited about the course God has given you and never grumble or complain. Keep yourself pure from idleness and carnality; don’t let them defile you along the way. Stay hot with a burning passion for the Master and His work.

The Destiny God has for you is so vital. But how far are you willing to go? Are you willing to finish your course with joy? Are you willing to go all the way? Can you press with your whole heart until you cross your finish line? Can you give it all you got and in His grace keep up the pace while keeping a steady gaze on His face? Never looking back but always on track; never losing ground while remaining spiritually sound. Remember God is counting on you to be a living testimony of His love. You are the only you that the world will ever see wrapped up in His grace and mercy! Fight the good fight of faith and finish your God given race, in the end you will see Him in honor face to face!

Hebrews 12:1-3

THEREFORE THEN, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us,

Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Just think of Him Who endured from sinners such grievous opposition and bitter hostility against Himself [reckon up and consider it all in comparison with your trials], so that you may not grow weary or exhausted, losing heart and relaxing and fainting in your minds.

He Stooped So Low

Philippians 2:7-11 (amp)

But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being. And after He had appeared in human form, He abased and humbled Himself [still further] and carried His obedience to the extreme of death, even the death of the cross! Therefore [because He stooped so low] God has highly exalted Him and has freely bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, That in (at) the name of Jesus every knee should (must) bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, And every tongue frankly and openly] confess and acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Jesus’ destiny did not look pretty from a natural stand point, but He completed the course nonetheless. Obedience is the act or practice of following instructions, complying with rules or regulations, or submitting to somebody’s authority. Jesus’ obedience resulted in death, but His death brought life to many through the power of His resurrection. Let us take His example and live our lives in full obedience to the will of the Father and enjoy the benefits of resurrection power!

Speak to Those Dry Bones

Ezekiel 37: 3-6

And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest. Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

God showed Ezekiel a situation that seemed impossible in the natural. God showed him a valley of old dead bones. Now these bones that God showed Ezekiel were not only old and dry but they were scattered all over the valley. God asked Ezekiel a very crucial question because the prophets’ answer would determine if God could use him in this situation. God needed Ezekiel to be open to do and believe whatever He said. Ezekiel must had known possibly by experience or good teaching that whenever God asked you a question we need to ask Him what the answer is not lean to our own understanding. We must be willing to trust and accept whatever God says and agree with Him. If God says no then we say no, if God says yes then we say yes, if God says stop then we must stop and not go one inch further. God performed a great miracle through the prophet because He obeyed God’s command. What would have been totally impossible in human ability God made a reality through one man’s faith in God. Ezekiel did exactly what God told him to do and he saw exactly what God said He would do.

Sometimes in our lives we may be faced with situations that seem down -right impossible but God has a word for every impossible situation. When we take the time to hear what God has to say and then say only what He commands us to say we will always see favorable results. It is impossible for God to lie, so if God says it, it shall come to pass. If you read the whole chapter of Ezekiel 37 you will see that when God began to perform this miracle through Ezekiel there was a part when the miracle was not complete. Everything had happen just like God said but there was no breath yet. God had said that He would put breath in them. However Ezekiel did not fret, murmur or complain. He did not settle for 95% either because He knew God was not a 95% God. Ezekiel waited on the word of God to command him in what to do next and God spoke and told him what to do. Ezekiel did not get in pride and try to do it himself, no; he waited on God because he knew God was not finished. God fully expects to do everything He says not just half but all.

We must stay in faith and allow God to accomplish His full complete will in our lives as well. We must not run ahead of God or try to figure things out for ourselves we must trust God. God is not a man that He should lie, He will always keep His word, and He will always do what He said He would do, 100%.

Links

A link is a connecter. A link is something that ties, connects, or relates two or more things. For instance, someone sends you an e-mail because they are trying to get some information to you. However, in addition to what they just shared with you, they have another source that can further make clear to you the subject, so they attach a link so that you can readily connect to this resource. These connections can be very vital to your success or failure.

When you are connected to the right things, it causes your whole life to prosper. There are many things that connect to other things. Fear is linked to failure. Anxiety is linked to prayerlessness. Spiritual strength is linked to joy. Faithfulness is linked to blessings.

In order for someone to benefit from links or connectors, they must open them. Someone can attach a link to your e-mail but if you never open it, you cannot partake of its benefits. How many times do we only receive the obvious but yet lack spiritual discipline to go deeper and link up with weightier things.

How many links have God sent you and you never opened them, that are still sitting in your spiritual e-mail box? That link could contain the answer you’ve been waiting to go forward in your steps of obedience to fulfill the complete will of God for your life. Follow the links God have put in your life; you will prosper and have good success.

Heaven is a Beautiful Place

Revelations 21:21-27

And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

God has prepared for us a new heaven and a new earth. It will be a wonderful place to spend eternity with God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Sometimes we can become so earthly focused that we forget to take time to just sit and meditate on the things God has prepared for those who love Him. Yes, God has supplied us with every spiritual and earthly blessing here on the earth, but that’s only a mere fraction of the whole in which God has in store for us. I know that we must stay focused on the assignment and mission that God has called us to here on the earth. However, there is a part of me that just can’t wait to go home and be with the Lord. Heaven is a wonderful place. A place where there is no evil and no darkness at all. Heaven is a place where sorrow is forever washed from our memories. Heaven is a joyful place with no tears or envious peers. Heaven is a place where every race shall dwell together in the glory and love of God. Heaven is a place where there is no night only the splendor of day. Heaven is a place of eternal reward for those who love God and endure to the end in Him. Heaven is a place worth waiting for.

It is not morbid to think about heaven because heaven is my home.
