Confidence

1John 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Confidence defined:

  • Belief or trust in somebody or something, or in the ability of somebody or something to act in a proper, trustworthy, or reliable manner.

It is so important for us to have confidence in God. Many people may think that when you become a Christian that this happens automatically but it does not. Human experience can often-times interfere with our confidence. For instance if a person had trust issues prior to being born-again due to failed relationships such as abandonment through divorce or neglect through improper parenting from childhood, it may be difficult not impossible, for them to immediately trust God with every area of their lives.

They truly love God but they need detoxifying of their soul (mind, will and emotions) and body from the hurtful  incidences of their past. Trust is established through experience. If someone tells you they will be there for you when you need them, then when opportunity arises they fail to come through, this can cause disappointment which in turn nurtures insecurities and cultivates mistrust.

When a baby is born there is a phase of normal growth and development called trust versus mistrust. If trust is to be established in that child’s life they must experience repeated positive interactions with the one in whom the trust is to be established with. This has to be done on a consistent basis to form a sort of bond with the other person. The child learns to trust or mistrust you based on your response to their needs. If you are consistent to come and attend to their needs when they cry they begin to trust and rely on you above all others. When they see your face come into a room they get so excited because they trust you and they know you will protect them, feed them, change them, comfort them, etc. Some of these things you may have never even done for them yet but because of your consistent positive response in other areas of their lives they trust you to be the same regarding new adventures as well.

God is trustworthy. But the best way to establish trust in any relationship is by experience. You can say that you trust God because of what you’ve heard Him do for others but nothing compares to your own experiences with God, they become priceless as you grow and develop in your relationship with God.

Another way that we can begin to develop confidence in God is through consistent meditation in His Word. God’s Word is alive, it is spirit, it is life. The Word of God has the ability to create supernatural knowledge and understanding in your spirit and soul to the point where you begin to know God in ways you have never known Him before through spiritual intimacy and fellowship. This kind of relationship is obtained through spiritual hunger and diligent seeking. His Word creates the bond of trust through the supernatural unveiling of who He is.

Trust and/or confidence promotes dependency. When you trust God you will begin to depend on Him for everything. You will come to Him for anything and involve Him in all things. You begin to understand and take full advantage of His love for you. You know without a shadow of a doubt that He will withhold nothing good from you. You become bold and confident in prayer knowing that your will is to do His will. Your confidence is unshakable concerning the Father. You know that He loves you and that He hears you and that He answers you.

The Joy of the Lord is Your Strength

Nehemiah 8:10

Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our LORD: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

When things in life seem to go array, the first thing that we seem to compromise is our joy. What a wrong chose that is. Joy is our strength and was given to us by God to be a help during times of distress and temptation. Joy is a fruit of the Spirit. Joy is vital to our existence and victory. In the human body we have vital organs that we cannot live on the earth without. Our bodies require a heart; we cannot live without one. If the heart shuts down the body will die. When the heart is diseased or only functioning at 40-50%, it negatively affects the whole body.

The word vital is defined as being extremely important and necessary, or indispensable to the survival or continuing effectiveness of something.

The joy of the Lord that resides within our spirit is indispensable. You must never under estimate its worth and try to face life without it.

Jesus declared in John 15:11, “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.”

Let the joy of the Lord live big in you today and everyday!

Stay Salty!

Matthew 5:13 (AMP)

You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste (its strength, its quality), how can its saltness be restored? It is not good for anything any longer but to be thrown out and trodden underfoot by men.

Salt is good when it is strong and fresh. Its purpose is to season and preserve. When salt loses the foundation of its purpose it is good for nothing. Jesus said we are the salt of the earth, not the salt of heaven. The earth needs our salty not heaven. We are to influence the world and persuade people with the Good News. When your life crosses the path of other lives they should be able to taste the flavor of God on you. The words you speak and the way you behave should be so salty and seasoned with grace that the other person instantly becomes hunger and thirty for God.

There is nothing more gross than to taste something that should have a great flavor but when you take a bite it taste so bland and its texture is so rough you promptly spit it out.

So stay salty and bring a refreshing flavor to those you come in contact with everyday.

The Wall

Walls divide and hide pride. Walls separate. Walls block. Walls hedge in or out. Walls fortify. Walls enclose. Walls can either trap you in or keep them out. Walls can be good or evil. What kind of walls have you allowed to form in your life over the years? Are those walls preventing you from going forward toward your God given destiny?

It is amazing that sometimes people think God will just come in their lives and start automatically tearing down walls, but He won’t. God will not touch or bother anything in your life unless you ask or allow Him to. God is not a thief, nor is He a robber. You must be willing to allow and welcome Him into your life affairs; He won’t just come in and take over.

God loves you, He wants you to live in victory, and overcome every obstacle that is positioned against your faith. His will is for you to go forward; to pursue and do the will of God. God has a plan for your life there is a good, acceptable, and perfect will of God for you. (Romans 12:1-2). God knows that if you continue to allow  walls to be built and fortified in your life, someday they will hinder your relationship  and fellowship with Him. So you must value your union and fellowship with God above the walls that try to distract and attract your attention and affection.

God is your only help and protection, those walls are not protecting you from anything. They are trying to keep you from your true source of eternal life, which is God. Maybe you have allowed those walls to be a sort of crutch for years and you depended and relied on them. They may even have seemed like they were actually helping you, but they cannot help. Walls don’t possess the power to help you, they are empty, just down-right hollow.

Don’t put your trust in walls, they will produce a false sense of security. Trust in the Lord (Proverbs 3:5-6), because He will never fail you. It’s time for every wall to fall, in the Name of Jesus! You were uniquely created by God to flourish and thrive. Your life is significant and special. You are valuable and victorious in Christ our Savor.

The scriptures tell us, “and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32).

Begin to meditate (concentrate, focus, confess, think on) the Word of God, especially Mark 11:22-26;

and then start speaking to that wall and it will be removed from your life.

Be Bold and Be Courageous, God is on your side! Don’t be deceived by pride because it will make your foot slide into a pit of destruction. Obey God and be free at last from the walls of your past.

Well Timed Help

Hebrews 4:14-16 (AMP)

Inasmuch then as we have a great High Priest Who has [already] ascended and passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession [of faith in Him]. For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning. Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].

Aren’t you glad that God loves and cares for you. Even in the midst of great trials and temptations the Lord understands and sympathizes our weaknesses and infirmities. He is such a great High Priest, He is not untouchable nor is He unreachable. God is always willing to comfort, forgive and heal the broken hearted. He is always ready and willing to help. He will never leave you or forsake you. We must always go to God, He will help, He will give mercy and grace, no matter what you face. He is always on time. Though others may not care or offer help or support, God will always be there for you. He will not condemn you or cast you aside. God is love. Love is forever actively pursuing you. You are not alone, He is there. He is more than enough!

Psalms 27:1-6

Psalms 27: 1-6

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

WOW, what a way to end the day, meditating on God’s ever present help.

His Name Shall Be Called

Isaiah 9:6

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Did you know that this scripture was not just for Christmas time? This scripture is so full of redemptive revelation. If you are not just the average casual bible reader you can hear the Spirit of the Lord saying, “Hold on slow down!” when you read that verse. It is so power packed with vital spiritual nutrients that refresh, renew and abundantly fill to the full our inner man.

The bible tells us that when the Spirit of truth would come to the earth and indwell believers that he would reveal the things of Christ to us.

Jesus said, “He will honor and glorify Me, because He will take of (receive, draw upon) what is Mine and will reveal (declare, disclose, transmit) it to you.” (John 16:14 AMP).

God is glorified when we become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him. In Isaiah 9:6, the

Holy Spirit begins to unveil Christ to us, OH HOW WONDERFUL AND SWEET TO RECEIVE REVELATION AT HIS FEET!

His name shall be called Wonderful:

• Jesus so wonderfully healed the sick, raised the dead, cast out devils, went about doing good and preaching and teaching the Word of God. Everything He did was so WONDERFUL!

His Name shall be called Counsellor:

• There is nothing that God doesn’t know. It so comforting to know that we can receive counsel: direction, instruction, insight, know things to come, etc. God is our counselor, Hallelujah!

His Name shall be called The Mighty God:

• Jesus is Mighty to save, deliver, protect. His works are Mighty. His Words are Mighty. His power is Mighty. All power is in His hand, no foe can withstand!

His Name shall be called Everlasting Father:

• He is our everlasting, meaning never ending, Father. Nothing can separate us from His love!

His Name shall be called Prince of Peace:

• Jesus said He gave us His peace because true peace only comes from Him. It’s the real deal that passes all understanding. Jesus is the author of peace, there is no peace with Him.

His name is above every name!

Love that Lasts (Love Feast #14)

1 Corinthians 13:13

And so faith, hope, love abide [faith–conviction and belief respecting man’s relation to God and divine things; hope–joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation; love–true affection for God and man, growing out of God’s love for and in us], these three; but the greatest of these is love.

LOVE FEAST DAY #14.

Oh my, what an awesome journey in love. Fourteen days of saturation and maturation in the love of God. We are moving up and flowing out totally consumed by God’s unfailing love working in us and through us. God’s love is bearing luscious fruit in our lives, the kind of fruit that shall remain and bring glory and honor to the Name that is above every name………….JESUS!

Don’t you just love being a person of love? Even though today is our last day of the LOVE FEAST, I know that you are addicted to love by now. I have full confidence that you will continue until Jesus returns, to exercise your faith concerning love and to love God and man and grow in love.

Today our love verse takes us to the finale’ of 14 days of sheer pleasure. Verse 13 reveals to us that 3 things abide: faith, hope and love. However the writer went on to say but the greatest of these three powers is love. No matter how strong or big our faith, no matter how great our hope without love they are nothing. The love of God is the foundation that holds everything else together. Without a strong foundation no house can stand, even against the smallest of storms. Love is vital. Love is life.

The love of God that is growing in you will never leave you or forsake you. It will never fail you. It will never betray you. It will never stand against as if to resist you in an effort to hinder your progress. Love is never selfish or lazy. It will never leave your mind hazy or make you go crazy. Love will be with you always even to the end.

Love will out live time and space. Love will be with you when you enter the final day of your earthly race. Love will prove itself true to you in every situation and circumstance. Love will advance the plan of God in your life and will propel you forward without vice or price. The love of God will treat you nice!

Enjoy this love everyday and purpose in your heart not to allow one day go by without yielding to it in some way. This love is true love. It is Love that Lasts !!

Face to Face (Love Feast #13)

1Corinthians 13:12

For now we are looking in a mirror that gives only a dim (blurred) reflection [of reality as in a riddle or enigma], but then [when perfection comes] we shall see in reality and face to face! Now I know in part (imperfectly), but then I shall know and understand fully and clearly, even in the same manner as I have been fully and clearly known and understood [by God].

LOVE FEAST DAY #13.

Today we focus on yet again imperfect knowledge. Remember it is neither God nor His Word that are imperfect, it is our understanding. There is nothing imperfect about God. He is perfect and pure, through and through. He is Light and in Him there is no darkness at all.

We have spoken an extensive degree on this subject over the last few verses so today let us reflect, absorb and do what we have heard. It’s not enough for us to learn and meditate but we must put God’s Word to practice.

Let us focus on the perfect one which is God. He is our standard, not frail human flesh. Let us see ourselves complete in Him. In Him we lack nothing because He is our Shepherd; we shall not want or lack anything. The things that God has chosen to reveal to us are precious and sufficient for us. Let us thank Him for our food, our manna, our daily bread. The table of the Lord is loaded with all that we have need of and more.

One day we will see Him face to face. What a glorious day that will be. The scripture tells us in 1

John 3:1-2 (AMP)

SEE WHAT [[a]an incredible] quality of love the Father has given (shown, bestowed on) us, that we should [be permitted to] be named and called and counted the children of God! And so we are! The reason that the world does not know (recognize, acknowledge) us is that it does not know (recognize, acknowledge) Him.

Beloved, we are [even here and] now God’s children; it is not yet disclosed (made clear) what we shall be [hereafter], but we know that when He comes and is manifested, we shall [[b]as God’s children] resemble and be like Him, for we shall see Him [c]just as He [really] is.

That is indeed our spiritual quest…to resemble and be lke Him.

Resemble defined:

  • To be similar to somebody or something in appearance or behavior.

It can be so easy sometimes to fall backwards and try to identify with the humanness of man’s being. This kind of identifying will always lead us to making excuses for inabilities instead of looking to God’s grace and supernatural help. The cry to be common or just mere men is present daily in this world’s atmosphere and influences. Resembling and being like God is a journey not an impossiblity. There are many qualities about God that we see in His Word that may appear intimidating and far reaching to the natural mind. Sometimes we may see ourselves far from ever being like God.

However, God had a purpose in telling us to be like Him. God was not trying to make fun of us when He said be ye holy for I am Holy. God is not trying to shame us at the end of our destinies here in the earth. God loves us and He has full confidence in His Word and His Spirit to complete the work He has started in us. However, we only know in part, we don’t know exactly how God will do what He said He will do but we trust Him and He is always true to His Word. If I tried to contemplate and figure out how God will work in me to perform this miraculous transformation I would become frustrated and discouraged because in and of myself I don’t see it but God knows it to be true.

So, let’s just settle down and rest in His infinite wisdom and ability. Stop trying to figure everything out in your own my or according to some other human experience, we are His workmanship.

Let’s allow the Master Craftsman do what only He can do and what the results come shining through! He will noy share His glory with another…to God Be The Glory!!!! Forever and Ever Amen.

How Old Are You, Really? (Love Feast #12)

1 Corinthians 13:11

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. .

I love the verse of scripture that we are meditating on today. Oh my I teach/preach on it a lot.

Putting away childish things is a great indicator of spiritual growth and development. As we read this verse of scripture one can see the progression and procession of growth, from a child to a man/adult. You can clearly see how this doesn’t happen overnight. Our natural bodies were created by God. We were fearfully and wonderfully made by His Mighty Meticulous Hand. God “showed out” so to speak when He made man, wonderful are the works of His hand and that my soul knows quite well. He is truly an awesome Creator.

Children are precious; they are so full of life and energy. They are innocent little spirits waiting to be filled. They love to learn and try new things, always watching and downloading information from their surroundings. A child reaching full maturity one day, has a lot to do with the different influences in their live’s. Sometimes people are stunted in the growth process because of disease or abuse/neglect. They had the potential and genetic make up to be 6’5” but only reached 4’10 because of improper nutrition or being exposed or coming in contact with toxic agents in their environment. Potential doesn’t always produce the whole package of goods. Children are miniature adults who have not grown into their potential. It is always a horrific sight to see a person with growth retardation. Their lives just seem to be frozen or suspended in one phase of life. Spiritual retardation is very similar. Have you ever seen a person who has been a Christian for 20 plus years but yet spiritually their lives emulate someone who is just a babe in Christ?

They talk like a child, they think like a child, and they act like a child. In their own eyes they think they are mature because of the years but in reality somewhere along the way their spiritual growth and development was interrupted and corrupted. Our spiritual diet has a lot to do with our growth and development. If you feed on the wrong things it will produce wrong results. If you feed on right things you get right results.

The scripture tells us, “Like newborn babies you should crave (thirst for, earnestly desire) the pure (unadulterated) spiritual milk, that by it you may be nurtured and grow unto [completed] salvation, (1Peter 2:2 AMP).

I like that, don’t you? The word unadulterated means: not mixed or diluted with something else, untainted, untouched, and unmodified.

Can you imagine the harm a mother would bring to her newborn baby if she diluted the milk or mixed it with alcohol or other toxic substance? The baby would have devastating physical consequences. How much more if we receive diluted or tainted spiritual food? God’s will for every believer is that we grow and flourish. The Father wants us all to experience the proper growth and development so that we can reach full maturity and finish our Divine Destinies.

If you examined the words that come forth from your mouth on a daily bases do they sound like the spiritual vocabulary of a 2 year old? Now if you are a baby Christian that’s fine, you are where you are by the grace of God and as you continue to hunger and thirst after God you will be filled so that you can be nurtured and grow. However, if you have been saved and living a Christian life for many years you should have made some notable progress by now. What do your thoughts sound like? If we were to put a spiritual microphone up to your mind, what would we hear? How do you act when under pressure or persecution? Do you throw spiritual temper tantrums or do you display the love and peace of God? Are the works of the flesh still more a part of your life than the fruit of the spirit?

My friend if this describes your current spiritual condition please don’t get offended and run and hide. God loves you and desires to see you enjoy the abundant life. Many times the only thing we need to do to get back on track is make a few adjustments in our daily walk with God. Once you get in the flow again you will begin to see supernatural growth spurts in no time. Don’t allow Satan to frustrate your purpose by getting up-set every time you hear a word of correction or instruction for your life. It’s time to man-up/woman-up… you know what I mean :).

When I was a child certain behavior was tolerated and expected but when I became an adult the same behavior became repulsive. There’s nothing wrong about being a baby, actually babies are a joy to any life both spiritually and naturally but there comes a time when we all must grow up.

Romans 8:19

For [even the whole] creation (all nature) waits expectantly and longs earnestly for God’s sons to be made known [waits for the revealing, the disclosing of their sonship].
