If You Don’t Know My Father – You Don’t Know Me

Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also. (John 8:19)

Have you ever had someone mistake you for someone else? Or presumably think they knew you because they knew your name and a few details about your life. They may even venture a little further to prejudge your response to situations, circumstances and life based upon what they know happened in your yesterday. However, yesterday always represents – what was, not always revealing what is and what shall be.

Yesterday represents the past, not necessarily complimenting and/or knowing my future. What I did yesterday is only a snapshot in time, this oftentimes deludes those who only know you from past experiences. They thought they knew you, but mistakenly they forgot to turn the page of yesterday; unbeknownst to them that chapter of your life is over, and you are changed.

The scriptures declare: 2Corinthians 5:17 (AMP) Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!

People may treat you based upon who they think you are. If people disrespect, dishonor and/or devalue you that can be an indication of their lack of knowledge of who you really are in Christ, they perceive you to be someone are not. However, always remember your true value is determined by God the Father, not mere human beings.

Jesus declares; And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me. (John 16:3)

You are in Christ and just like they did not know or recognize Jesus when He was in the world, the world will not recognize you, nor your true value.

The scriptures declare in Colossians 3:3-4 (AMP) For you died [to this world], and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

Jesus declares; And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me. (John 16:3)

The truth is told here, Jesus is educating us that when people don’t know the Father, they are incapable of knowing you. Our new lives in Christ are hid in Him, people can not know you because the darkness that they live in blinds their eyes and they cannot see; this is why people mistake you for someone else. The only reason Peter knew that Jesus was the Christ is because the Father revealed this truth to Peters mind.

Now when Jesus went into the [a]region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”  And they answered, “Some say John the Baptist; others, Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah, or [just] one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed), the Son of the living God.” Then Jesus answered him, “Blessed [happy, spiritually secure, favored by God] are you, Simon son of Jonah, because flesh and blood (mortal man) did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 16:13-20 (AMP)

So don’t change to try to be who some say you are, continue to thank God for who you are in His Son, Jesus Christ our Redeemer!

Blessings, Sister Cathy~

Stranger Things Have Happened

1 Peter 4:12-13

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

Oh how I love this scripture, it is indeed food for the whole man. This scripture brings such clarity in seasons of fiery trials. Why do we think it is strange to be going through a fiery trial?
Similar words to strange: odd, bizarre, outlandish, weird, peculiar, out of the ordinary, unexpected, unfamiliar, foreign, and different.

The opposite of strange is normal. It is indeed normal for true Christians to experience fiery trials. So why then are we so surprised and somewhat caught off guard when we are under fire. Sometimes I encounter Christians who are totally distraught when going through a fiery trial as if they were surprised something of that nature was happening to them.
Fiery trials are apparently different from regular trials.

Fiery defined:
• Burning or full of fire.
• Full of or prone to sudden extremes of emotions.

These kinds of trials are definitely designed to do real damage to the life and confidence of the believer in Christ. The nature of fire is to consume, it will burn and destroy until there is nothing left but ashes. Fire not only burns whatever it is on but can spread to whatever is near it, unless it is contained. That’s why when people are going through fiery trials and you step in to help make sure you are being lead by the Holy Spirit and are equip with your spiritual armor.
It is not the will of God for any sort of trial, regular or extra spicy, to defeat or destroy His people.

Isaiah 43:1-2
But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

If you are going through a fiery trial at this very moment, rejoice, and begin to give God praise that this thing will never overtake or consume you. Rejoice and focus on the goodness of God that is bringing you out of this situation without being burned! Now that’s supernatural. Rejoice and give God the Highest praise! You are a child of the Most High God and He will never leave you or forsake you. You have been FIRE-PROOFED! Hallelujah!
