WHAT NOT TO WEAR

Romans 13:14

  • But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

There are certain things Christian’s should not wear. We must dress for success. I am speaking of our spiritual garments not a dress you buy at Macy’s.

We must dress everyday for victory. The scripture says, “Put on the Lord Jesus”. Everything Jesus represents and is should be in and on us.

We must on purpose strip off wrong, harmful attitudes and behaviors. We must refuse to wear the garment of division and strife. We must never enter the store of worldly lust with the intent to buy or sell. We must never borrow clothes of offense.

In the fashion world, some colors or patterns don’t match. We cannot wear some garments of the flesh and some of the spirit, they clash.

Before you leave the house, look in the spiritual mirror, the Bible. The Bible is our perfect standard and guide book for, WHAT NOT TO WEAR.

Put on love, gentleness, self-control, peace, and joy. Slip on the sweater on faithfulness. Put on your hat of truth.

Look at you… you’re looking good now!

Walk with confidence, you’ve got the look.

If you are fashion illiterate, seek help today. The Holy Spirit is our wonderful faithful counselor.

There is no limit to your account, so go ahead splurge, God’s got the tab.

GREAT EXPECTATIONS

Psalms 62:5

My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.

Expectation defined:

• A confident belief or strong hope that a particular event will happen.

When a young woman is pregnant many will use the term, “she is expecting,” in reference to the upcoming delivery of her child. Due to the level of intimacy of the couple, a child was conceived and now others, including the couple are patiently waiting on the arrival of the child. They are all confident that this baby will arrive at the expected time. Expectations are generally conceived from information, good or bad.

The woman with the issue of blood in the Bible had an expectation that she would be healed upon touching the hem of Jesus’ garment. What was it that fueled her confident belief? The women had been given information about Jesus and what He could do. This knowledge of God produced the necessary faith or belief that she could receive her miracle.

What you hear or listen to on a daily basis can be the catalyst to your expectations in life. Do you expect good to come your way today or are you looking for evil things to plague your day? Do you see yourself as a failure or as more than a conqueror? Do you expect people to show you favor or do you expect people to dislike you? Psalms 62:5 reminded us how to expect great things in life. The Psalmist said, “My soul wait thou only upon God…” When we spend time in God’s presence and in His Word we will receive the right information that produces right expectations. When we choose to wait on God, His Words will produce the confident trust we need to obtain the desired results.

Misinformation or incomplete information can produce frustration and disappointment. A person maybe disappointed with God, thinking He did not produce or come through in a situation like they expected He would. Well, first of all, check out who gave you the information by which you have established your expectations. Was your expectation produced from what you read in the Bible or was it misquoted or misinterpreted hear -say of something somebody thought God said? The scriptures instruct us to study to show ourselves approved; we should not be rooting our confidence in he said/ she said conversations. Disappointment can destroy confidence and cause a person to draw back from God. Before you put high stakes in what somebody told you, search the scriptures for yourself and know the truth, through personal intimacy and fellowship with God. What is conceived in you through personal intimacy with God will produce GREAT EXPECTATIONS, which will soon deliver GREAT RESULTS.

Numbers 23:19, God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

H.E.L.P.

H.E.L.P. (Heaven Extravagantly Loving People)

Hebrews 4:15-16

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Help defined:

  • to make it easier or possible for somebody to do something that one person cannot do alone by providing assistance
  • to provide somebody with advice, directions, or other information

Have you ever been tempted to give up on something you had previously set your heart to fully accomplish? Have you ever drawn back from your purpose? Have you ever been under pressure and felt overwhelmed by the circumstances facing you? Well, if your answer to any of the above questions was yes, you are not the only one who has been at the boiling point of a temptation, test or trial.

The scripture says, Jesus also was tempted in all points yet without sin. How did Jesus overcome every temptation, I believe it was because He had help. Jesus lived a life here on the earth in close fellowship and union with his Heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, “…yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.”

You are not alone, God is with you and He is for you. You have every available help in every situation. Love will never abandon you.

The scripture says to come boldly, meaning with confidence and deep assurance. Know that God will not reject your request for His help. He longs and waits to help His children but we must be willing to ask. Don’t let pride and the “I can do it by myself syndrome” block the true help you need. There are heavenly resources available to you right now! Our Heavenly Father is an extravagant giver. He is extreme when it comes to blessing His children. He will not scold you for asking for His help, it is His delight when you come to the throne of grace to obtain mercy and find grace to help in the time of need.

So go ahead and approach the throne, Heaven is waiting to pour extravagant love on you now. Help is on the way today!

THE AUTHORITY OF LOVE

Authority defined:

  • the right or power to enforce rules or give orders.

The Love of God is God. Therefore, Love has all power. Nothing is more powerful than the Love of God. Love has the right to enforce the rules of the kingdom of God in a Christian’s life. Love has a right to give orders. In any kingdom there may be different levels of authority but the ultimate or highest authority belongs to the KING.

The authority of Love has the right to over throw and rule, anything and everything that is legally subject to it. Jesus declared in Matthew 28:18, “Jesus approached and, breaking the silence, said to them, All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.”

Notice Jesus did not say some authority but rather, ALL AUTHORITY was given unto Him, in heaven and in earth. That authority was legally given to Him by God the Father, who is the only one that can delegate that kind of authority. After receiving all authority Jesus then delegates authority in His name to believers. Jesus demonstrated through His life here on the earth how to appropriate and operate in the authority of Love.

Love enforced the rules of the kingdom of God over nature, commanding peace and demanding calm. The sea, winds and waves obeyed.

Love enforced the rules of the kingdom over death, commanding life and people were raised from the dead.

Love enforced the rules of the kingdom of God over sickness and disease and bodies and minds were healed and restored.

Love enforced the rules of the kingdom of God over lack and increase began to flow, feeding multitudes.

Love enforced the rules of the Kingdom of God over bondages and addictions and many captives were set free.

The scriptures teach us that we should be imitators of God. We should in other words act like He acts; do what He does, and say what He says.

According to Romans 5:5, the Love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost. This being the case, we now too as believers have been given the legal authority to demonstrate and enforce the rules of the Kingdom of God.

You now have the right to cast out fear because you have been given the authority of Love. You now have a right to enforce health in your body. You now have a right to command freedom from depression and oppression. You now have a right to command nature and storms must obey you. You now have a right to do everything that Jesus did as a man anointed by God.

The authority of Love heals, builds and then reveals the glory of God. The authority of Love is in you right now, child of God, release its power, you have a right to do so. Permission granted…… by God!

BLESSED ARE THE PEACE-MAKERS

Matthew 5:9

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Are you a peace-maker?

It is necessary to possess peace in order to be a peace-maker. However, everyone who possesses peace is not an active peace-maker. By that I mean, a peace –maker is someone who is actively involved in keeping peace. They go out of their way to insure peace is achieved and maintained.

Many situations in life we could just sit over in a corner, quietly minding our own business while chaos and confusion abound. We sit there reasoning and excusing within ourselves saying, “Well that’s none of my business.” As a Christian we have an advantage in every situation in life because we have the greater one, the Holy Spirit, living on the inside of us. Being a peace-maker may not always involve you standing up in the middle of a fight and physically prying two people apart, like an umpire. Your part maybe to pray for all parties involved. The Holy Spirit is your Helper, commune with Him and find out what He would have you do in every circumstance and situation. Our part is to be mindful that as Christians we are the only true peace-makers the world will ever see. God is counting on us to be available to Him; so that He can continue to show forth His love to all.

BE NOT DECEIVED

Galatians 6:7-8

Do not be deceived and deluded and misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at (scorned, disdained, or mocked by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside.) [He inevitably deludes himself who attempts to delude God.] For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap.

For he who sows to his own flesh (lower nature, sensuality) will from the flesh reap decay and ruin and destruction, but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

 Deceived defined:

• To mislead or deliberately hide the truth from somebody

• To convince yourself of something that is not true

The worst kind of deception is self deception. The scripture warns us not to be deceived because God is not mocked. If we live a life of pretense we will reap the results.

It is deception to think you will receive things only obtained by faith, yet you don’t live a life governed by faith. It is deception to think you will receive the benefits of prayer when you never spend time with God. To pretend that you are doing something and you really aren’t is insanity. Many times people try to pretend they are people of prayer but the only time they pray is when they are around other people of prayer. They live a life of mere outward show and lip service. We must be honest with ourselves and examine our lives and motives before we are caught holding the bag of pretense. If we are true to our own heart we will examine our lives and make the necessary adjustments and begin to live a life untainted by deception.

• lasting for all time without beginning or end

BE IT UNTO ME

Luke 1:37-38

For with God nothing shall be impossible.

And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

“Be it unto me according to thy word,” are not the words that come from a luke warm heart. The heart that utters with all sincerity and fervor, God I want what you want, no matter what you say that’s what I want Lord, this is a surrendered heart. In this heart flows genuine love and adoration. This is not a selfish heart. A selfish heart prevents divine purpose. A selfish hearts says what’s in it for me. A selfish heart hesitates and procrastinates, the call to true purpose.

A heart that trusts God is prompt to yield to His Word no matter how inconvenient it may appear yo be. A heart that trusts God is sensitive to the desires and ways of God, always seeking out ways to please Him. A heart that seeks to please God is neither a crowd pleaser nor a flesher teaser.

Be it unto me according to your word,” are not words of the weary and faint of heart but words of covenant keepers, promise finders and destiny seekers. They are words of faith!

WATCH YOUR STEP

Psalms 17:5

Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.

It is so important to watch your steps when taking a walk. There are many things on various paths that are undesirable for one’s feet to land on. Have you ever been walking in grass and was not particularly paying attention to where your foot was landing and all of a sudden, oops, you are conscious of something mushy, with a foul odor peeping from underneath your shoes, manure, yuck. Now you have this awful smell on you all the way home. Perhaps you have experienced the dramatic occurence of walking on a freshly mopped floor and suddenly without notice … BAM; you’re on your back staring at the ceiling from the floor. Ouch!

It is very apparent from just these two scenarios that one must be very alert when walking. If walking in the natural can expose a person to dangerous, unsuspecting terrains, how much more spiritually.

It is very obvious though, how these unfortunate mishaps could have been avoided.

We must keep ourselves spiritually alert as well as physically alert to avoid traps and snares of the flesh, world and the devil. God did not intend for Christians to walk around haphazardly not watching where they are stepping or going. God has equipped us with divine insight and discernment so that are steps are accurate and sure. However, we must remain alert and sensitive to His voice and follow closely to His instructions. God gave us the Holy Spirit to guide us in all truth; He will never lead us into a mess or distress. Does that mean that ever path God leads us down will be loaded with roses and fun things? No, however, you can always rest assured that wherever God leads you, He has already gone before you to prepare the way so that nothing shall by any means harm you.

NO MORE SMOKE SCREENS OR FOG MACHINES

Ephesians 5:15-17

Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people),

Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil.

Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is.

How can we as Christian live accurately? The word accurate implies being precise, exact, true, perfect and correct. To some these words may seem overwhelming. Thoughts may arise in their minds, “But I’m not perfect, nobody is. How can God expect this of me?”

Rest assured, God will never ask you to do something that He has not already equipped you to do. God is a just God. God is never unfair. He will never burden His children with impossible task or unattainable life goals and unreachable destinies. Everything God requires of you is fully attainable because of who and what He has placed in you. God has given us His Word (the Bible) and His Spirit (the Holy Ghost) so that we can live purposefully, accurately and worthily. The Holy Spirit lives on the inside of every believer to guide and lead us through the course in this life that God has individually chosen for us. He will never leave or forsake us.

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

That word Comforter means helper. The Holy Spirit is with you to help you live accurately. If you will cooperate with Him, He will always lead you into the perfect will of God and help you fulfill exactly what the Father’s will is for your life.

The above scripture warns us not to live vague. That word vague speaks of being hazy, unclear and blurred. Have you ever tried walking around town with blurred or impaired vision? It’s very easy to stumble and fall when you can’t see properly. The scriptures declare that your future is bright not hazy. God has given us spiritual insight and revelation so that we can see beyond the flesh, the world and the devils smoke screens and fog machines.

Through the prophet Habakkuk God reveals to us how we can know the will of God. Listen.

Chapter2:1-3

[OH, I know, I have been rash to talk out plainly this way to God!] I will [in my thinking] stand upon my post of observation and station myself on the tower or fortress, and will watch to see what He will say within me and what answer I will make [as His mouthpiece] to the perplexities of my complaint against Him. And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may [be able to] read [it easily and quickly] as he hastens by. For the vision is yet for an appointed time and it hastens to the end [fulfillment]; it will not deceive or disappoint. Though it tarry, wait [earnestly] for it, because it will surely come; it will not be behindhand on its appointed day.

Habakkuk had purposed to position himself to hear what God had to say to him. God did not disappoint or become angry with Habakkuk because he wanted answers concerning his future. God wants to show every believer great and mighty things (Jeremiah 33:1-3) but we must be still and position ourselves to hear. Once we have gotten instruction from God we can then go forward to live a life accurately, worthily and purposefully before Him. Don’t wander through life with unanswered questions concerning your destiny take the time to get the right answers from the one who knows, God!
