God CAN and He WILL

Luke 1:45

And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

Now of course you know that this verse applies to both male and female. Just thought that I would make that clear right from the start.

Elizabeth said something very profound in this verse of scripture; it was a declaration of faith in God. Blessed is he/she that BELIEVES, what God has said. Do you believe? Life is meaningless if we don’t believe God. Life is chaotic when we don’t believe God. Life is dangerous and deadly when we don’t believe God.

God is our Father, if we are going to believe anybody it should be Him. God will never lie to us or make promises that He cannot or will not fulfill. Our Father can be trusted with anything and all things.

What has God spoken to you about your life and purpose? You can trust Him to make good on what He has said but we must believe what He has said. God can and He will do what He has promised you, only believe.

The scripture says, “And [so] the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed in (adhered to, trusted in, and relied on) God, and this was accounted to him as righteousness (as conformity to God’s will in thought and deed), and he was called God’s friend.” James 2:23 (AMP)

You too can believe and see His plans and purposes for your life fulfilled.

Moderation

To have something in moderation is defined as: within reasonable limits and never to excess.

In today’s society most food is served in super sized portions. It is not unusual when buying a slice of pie to be served an enormous 3 serving size slice. People actually get upset when they are served a normal portion; they think they are being cheated.

Consider this, a normal portion size of meat should be 2-3oz/per meal. The visual of that would be the size of the palm of your hand or a deck of cards.

Proverbs 23:2 declares, And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite.

The next time you are tempted to eat that 3rd serving of pie, consider practicing a little moderation or temperance.

Deleted!

On most keyboards and computer options, there is a delete button which gives a person the choice to erase what they see.

Delete defined:

• To score out or erase something that is printed or written.

This mean we can totally obliterate something from our files or disk just by the mere push of a button. When you delete something, there is no trace or memory of it. As a matter of fact, if that was the only copy of it, it would be hard to prove it even existed.

Hebrews 10:16-18 NLT

This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord:

I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds. Then he says, I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds. And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.

God has deleted things from your past and mine. He has totally erased them from our history. The words “never again remember” have the same meaning as “delete”. God has erased the bad and downloaded the good. Oh, I’m so glad for that heavenly delete button, aren’t you? All the plans and strategies the devil plotted against me to destroy me were all deleted in an instant. The enemy thought he could destroy me because of my past sins, but glory to God they were all deleted in the blood of Jesus. There is no trace or memory of them, as a matter of fact, it’s as though they never existed. Hallelujah! Deleted by the blood! Deleted by the Blood!

The wonderful thing about this delete button is that it works on all the enemies weapons and destructive strategies. When he attempts to flood your mind with ungodly thoughts and imaginations, just go ahead an press that delete button. When he tries to put sickness and disease on your body just go ahead and push that button. When the enemy tries to thwart the plans and purposes of God in your life just go ahead an press the button. Our button represents the name of Jesus, the Word of God, and the power of the Holy Spirit. These all agree for your victory. So don’t hesitate to press your delete button and live free from the weights and sins sent by your enemy. Praise the Lord God Almighty!

Atmosphere

Atmosphere defined:

Prevailing emotional tone or attitude, especially one associated with a specific place or time.

When I think of atmosphere, I think of the upper room on the day of Pentecost. I believe there was great joy and enthusiasm in that appointed place. I believe there was a supernatural expectation in that place. It had to be the prevailing tone amongst those present in that room that day. Through unity and prayer, they provided the perfect atmosphere for the Holy Spirit to descend, and fill the place where they were waiting.

The scriptures declare, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk , and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31.

Their attitude was consistent, and they were determined. They did not give up, nor did they quit or complain, because it did not seem as though the promise would come to pass. They stuck with it and kept the right attitude, until the promise was fulfilled.

Atmospheres are influenced by interest and excitement. If the only thing you are interested in is a mundane, lackadaisical life style; then the ambiance around your life, wherever you go will depict that mood.

Those Christians who chose to remain in the upper room until the day of Pentecost, were all with one accord in one place. Go with me for just a minute and indulge your mind and imagination with a spiritual flashback into the upper room on that day. Wow, can you see the excitement and expectation on every face? Can you invision  the force of the fortitude resounding from the unity experienced there that day? Can you see it; great passion, great press, great anticipation, and great resolve? Oh my, Oh my, what a wonderful atmosphere of love and grace in that place.

The fear and sorry that once filled their heart was now gone; because love, the God kind of love, had cast it out. Their inner man possessed the perfect atmosphere and attitude to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:1-4 (AMP)

AND WHEN the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all assembled together in one place, When suddenly there came a sound from heaven like the rushing of a violent tempest blast, and it filled the whole house in which they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues resembling fire, which were separated and distributed and which settled on each one of them. And they were all filled (diffused throughout their souls) with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other (different, foreign) languages (tongues), as the Spirit kept giving them clear and loud expression [in each tongue in appropriate words].

Start affecting your future and the lives of those around you with the right atmosphere today!

A Short Confession to Sustain the Blessing

This is the day that my Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it! God has made me to be the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath. I am more than a conqueror and can do all things through Christ that strengthens me and gives me rest and victory from every test and trouble. I recognize that my past was filled with sins against God, against His will. However, today I can truly say I have been forgiven by grace through faith in Jesus the Christ. I know and understand that yesterday is gone and I am in position to move on and fulfill my Divine Destiny with God. I choose to forget those things which are behind me and to look to the future that God has prepared and made ready before me. Leaving behind the disgrace that comes with the sinner’s race that’s filled with death and destruction. I have a new life in Christ because He paid the price – His life for my freedom. I press toward my goal given to me in Christ. My victory and success in life is sure because I believe in the pure unadulterated truth of God’s Word. I am being changed by the renewing of my mind and I choose not to commit the crime of allowing negative thoughts to bring me into captivity this time. The Word of God is my choice therefore, I give voice to its authority in my life. Today I confess that I am dressed for battle and will triumph over the enemy Today, I win because Jesus gave me victory over sin and placed His love within my heart. I am growing into a mature believer in Christ because I choose to pay the price and surrender my life and not follow human advice but to hear and obey God’s Word. Truly this is a good day, a blessed day, a day filled with new mercies from God my Heavenly Father! Amen.

Jealousy: Spiritual Acid

Jealousy is like a spiritual acid that eats away at a person vitality and verdure. Acid is corrosive in nature which means it is able to destroy something progressively by chemical action. It is also very interesting to note that acid also can be defined as a sharp, bitter, or sarcastic quality in speech or writing. Wow isn’t that an eye opener. The next time someone speaks sharp, bitter, sarcastic words about or around you, just go ahead and neutralize those destructive daggers, they’ll fall to the ground ineffective and void of power.

If not neutralized the erosive effect of jealousy tends to immediately break down or wear away at whatever it comes in contact with. What use to look vibrant and fresh now looks old, worn and lifeless.

Neutralized defined:

• To make something ineffective, especially by removing its ability to act as a threat or obstacle.

The bible says jealousy is cruel as the grave (Songs of Solomon 8:6). It is contrary to the plans and purposes of God.

Proverbs 14:30 (AMP)

A calm and undisturbed mind and heart are the life and health of the body, but envy, jealousy, and wrath are like rottenness of the bones.

1 Corinthians 3:3 (AMP)

For you are still [unspiritual, having the nature] of the flesh [under the control of ordinary impulses]. For as long as [there are] envying and jealousy and wrangling and factions among you, are you not unspiritual and of the flesh, behaving yourselves after a human standard and like mere (unchanged) men?

James 3:14, 16 (AMP)

But if you have bitter jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry, selfish ambition) in your hearts, do not pride yourselves on it and thus be in defiance of and false to the Truth.

For wherever there is jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry and selfish ambition), there will also be confusion (unrest, disharmony, rebellion) and all sorts of evil and vile practices.

Now we can see from the above scriptures why jealousy is cruel. It is unrelenting and destructive. It is brutal and malicious. It is mean and nasty. It is spiteful, unkind and vindictive. We, Christians, must guard our hearts against this deadly enemy. The bible describes jealousy as bitter, which means it is very sour or disgusting to digest. It leaves a bad taste in ones mouth.

Many times when people allow jealousy to operate in their lives it is not always obvious at first glance. It will many times sheepishly rear its head and bite in a casual way. The bible says wherever there is jealousy there is confusion or unrest, disharmony and rebellion. Jealousy is rebellious against the character and nature of God. It is selfish in its pursuit and regards not the plans and purposes of God. Jealousy is rooted in pride; it has no loyalty to God in nature.

When we yield to the flesh, the old sin nature, jealousy is a product. When we yield to the flesh, jealousy does not ask for permission to flow and grow in our lives. The flesh cultivates and stimulates jealousy.

The only way we can keep our lives clean and flesh free is to yield to the Spirit and His workings in our lives. We must follow and follow Him closely. We must listen to Him and obey quickly. We must be loyal to His Words. We must be reverent and esteem His voice. We must allow the Word of God to root out, pull down and destroy all the deceptive works of the flesh, while planting, cultivating and building the fruit of the spirit. When we grow in the knowledge of the Love of God we will never be controlled by jealousy again.

Hit the Target

Habakkuk 2:1-3

I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

There is something admirable about effort. I applaud every noble cause but a cause without effort equals failure. The prophet Habakkuk declared that he would stand on his watch. Many times people are not willing to put any effort to seeing the plan that God has for their life fulfilled. Now, don’t misunderstand me, I do believe in sweat- less victories; meaning not trying to obtain things in your own strength. However the scriptures tell us that we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us. Well, what does God strengthen us for? He strengthens us for us to do all things. Yes, it is God’s strength but we must participate and do our part. If you want a job then you need to get up and go apply for one, they don’t just drop out of the sky because God just strengthen you.

Habakkuk chose to seek God to see what the Lord would say to him and God in returned answered him. God has things to say to you, He wants you to hit the target of your destiny.

Target defined:

• A goal or objective toward which effort is directed.

When God begins to reveal His plans and purposes to us we then have something to target. That Divine plan becomes our bulls-eye. It’s important to write down what God says to us and then keep it before our eyes like a target. God will always fulfill His Word but we must believe. Believing is part of our effort. It is easier to hit a fixed target as opposed to a moving target. When I say a moving target I mean something that keeps changing. God is not changing targets on you every other day. He means what He says and says what He means. The vision God has given you may not fully come to pass today or tomorrow but you can be assured that it will come to pass, just like He said. So write the vision and make it plain, run with it and don’t stop until you have seen His good will come to pass at last.

Love Is…

Love is speaking, are you listening? Love is listening, are you speaking? Love is watching, what are you doing? Loving is doing, what are you watching? Love is in, but are you out?

IF I [can] speak in the tongues of men and [even] of angels, but have not love (that reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion such as is inspired by God’s love for and in us), I am only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers  the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), and understand all the secret truths and mysteries and possess all knowledge, and if I have [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but have not love (God’s love in me) I am nothing (a useless nobody). Even if I dole out all that I have [to the poor in providing] food, and if I surrender my body to be burned or in order that I may glory, but have not love (God’s love in me), I gain nothing. Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end].

Labor of Love

1 Thessalonians 1:3

Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

The labor of Love is a work of the spirit that is well pleasing to God. When we think of Love, we don’t generally think of it in terms of work or labor. The scripture here in Thessalonians describes Love as labor.

Now, many times people consider the word labor to be a negative word. A word associated with pain and strenuous effort. They see it as hard work and struggle.

The word labor defined:

• The supply of work or workers for a particular job, industry, or employer.

• Work done using the strength of the body.

I like the term supply of work; to me, it implies giving of what you already have. When you give and do your part out of the supply that you already have, it takes the struggle out. God does not expect us to do anything in our own strength. He supplies all our needs so that we can work in love. Labor of Love speaks boldly to us that Love is our business or work while we are here on the earth. Everything we do should be born out of the Love of God.

The term strength of the body in the definition above caught my attention in that labor should be a unified force. Every member of the body doing their part working together for the cause of Christ. When every part is doing its work of faith and labor of love it produces a greater ease, a quicker and more efficient work.

So as you work for the Kingdom of God today remember it is a Labor of Love employed by Love.
