God Deserves 100%

Colossians 3:1 (AMP)

And whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in [dependence upon] His Person, giving praise to God the Father through Him.

God deserves 100% of our loyalty. He is worthy of our best service and worship.

Sometimes when you sweep a floor, there is a small amount of dust or dirt that sometimes refuses to sweep into the dust pan. Have you ever swept that small amount of dirt under a rug because it was so small you thought, “Oh nobody will see it anyway.” What you felt to be insignificant was an indication of your work ethic and integrity.

Sometimes people tend to not do their best work when they think no one is looking.

Pretense defined:

• something done or a way of behaving that is not genuine, but is intended to deceive somebody

Words that are similar to pretense: charade, sham, façade, make-believe, deceit, deception and simulation.

Whatever we do in word or in deed, even when we think they are trivial, we are to do them in the name of the Lord and for Him. We should always live everyday with the understanding, God is with me. Wherever I go and whatever I do, He is present. We should seek the honor that comes from God and not the honor of man.

Refuse to do anything in pretense. God loves you no matter what others think about you. Live to please Him.

Late Night Snacks

Sometimes we can get hungry at the strangest times, like in the middle of the night or close to bedtime. There you sit minding your own business, getting ready to retire for the night, and BAM, your stomach begins to growl. You think to yourself, “Surely I couldn’t be hungry I just ate 4 hours ago”. However, your body is now crying out and demanding to be fed. What do you do, feed it or deny it?

This can also apply to our spirit man. Our spirit has the same or many times a greater demand for nourishment then our physical bodies. When our bodies are active, many times they require and demand more calories, kind of like supply and demand. When you expend spiritual energy so to speak you require more spiritual food to maintain soundness and effectiveness. When you are spiritually active it is not unusual for your spirit to wake your mind and body in the middle of the night for a late night Hallelujah snack. What do you do, feed it or deny it?

Prevailing Purposes

Purpose defined:

• The reason for which something exists or for which it has been done or made.

• The desire or the resolve necessary to accomplish a goal.

Why are you here? Who told you to come? What are you doing now that you are here? How will this life end for you; in victory, surrender or defeat? Will you finish you course in obedience to God or selfish retreat? Do you know the purpose for which you were born? What are you doing today to help fulfill God’s purpose for your life?

Ecclesiastes 3:2

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

Prevailing Purposes will make you get up out of bed, slam the door to mediocrity and uncover every scorpion and serpent and begin to tread.

Purpose will help you look defeat in the face and declare I’m not going backward but full force ahead! Go Head, Go Head, Go Head!

Purpose will punch out pride and only let humility ride.

Purpose will embrace grace and excuse self-will from its high and lofty place.

Prevailing purpose will cause a man/woman who is tempted with an adulterous affair to laugh right in the devils face, step on his head without losing step or pace in his race.

Purpose pursues with passion, fervor and determination to always win. Purpose is never slothful or lazy but working while it is yet day with a confident joyful grin.

Purpose is peaceful, practical and power packed. Purpose stays plugged in through intercession and various kinds of prayer, picking up the slack, staying on track, never looking back.

Purpose travels with only the necessary equipment to get the job done, no heavy baggage, no weights, free-loader or bums.

Purpose will ignore the need to compete; it pulls down thoughts of jealousy, envy and strife. Purpose pursues only the good life.

Purpose shuns the pull from darkness to worry, fret or dread. Purpose is strengthened by Love that is alive, not dead.

In Prevailing Purpose there is no fear, only mercy as we draw near and yield our ear to the voice of the Good Shepherd.

Romans 8:27 (AMP)

We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.

God’s Divine Prevailing Purposes for your life awaiting your , “Yes Lord, I’ll obey, amen!”

No More Smoke Screens and Fog Machines

Ephesians 5:15-17

Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people),

Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil.

Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is.

How can we as Christian live accurately? The word accurate implies being precise, exact, true, perfect and correct. To some these words may seem overwhelming. Thoughts may arise in their minds, “But I’m not perfect, nobody is. How can God expect this of me?”

Rest assured, God will never ask you to do something that He has not already equipped you to do. God is a just God. God is never unfair. He will never burden His children with impossible task or unattainable life goals and unreachable destinies. Everything God requires of you is fully attainable because of who and what He has placed in you. God has given us His Word (the Bible) and His Spirit (the Holy Ghost) so that we can live purposefully, accurately and worthily. The Holy Spirit lives on the inside of every believer to guide and lead us through the course in this life that God has individually chosen for us. He will never leave or forsake us.

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

That word Comforter means helper. The Holy Spirit is with you to help you live accurately. If you will cooperate with Him, He will always lead you into the perfect will of God and help you fulfill exactly what the Father’s will is for your life.

The above scripture warns us not to live vague. That word vague speaks of being hazy, unclear and blurred. Have you ever tried walking around town with blurred or impaired vision? It’s very easy to stumble and fall when you can’t see properly. The scriptures declare that your future is bright not hazy. God has given us spiritual insight and revelation so that we can see beyond the flesh, the world and the devils smoke screens and fog machines.

Through the prophet Habakkuk God reveals to us how we can know the will of God. Listen.

Chapter2:1-3

[OH, I know, I have been rash to talk out plainly this way to God!] I will [in my thinking] stand upon my post of observation and station myself on the tower or fortress, and will watch to see what He will say within me and what answer I will make [as His mouthpiece] to the perplexities of my complaint against Him. And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may [be able to] read [it easily and quickly] as he hastens by. For the vision is yet for an appointed time and it hastens to the end [fulfillment]; it will not deceive or disappoint. Though it tarry, wait [earnestly] for it, because it will surely come; it will not be behindhand on its appointed day.

Habakkuk had purposed to position himself to hear what God had to say to him. God did not disappoint or become angry with Habakkuk because he wanted answers concerning his future. God wants to show every believer great and mighty things (Jeremiah 33:1-3) but we must be still and position ourselves to hear. Once we have gotten instruction from God we can then go forward to live a life accurately, worthily and purposefully before Him. Don’t wander through life with unanswered questions concerning your destiny take the time to get the right answers from the one who knows, God!

Are You Increasing?

Luke 2:52 (AMP)

And Jesus increased in wisdom (in broad and full understanding) and in stature and years, and in favor with God and man.

Jesus increased. He did not stay the same year after year, His life bore fruit of progress. He was not stagnant. Sometimes people just talk a good talk, yet their life has no evidence of real change or increase. They make no effort to see increase in their life. They do the same things;  year after year, yet they expect different results in their lives. They want results that they see others have who are really doing what it takes to get results. In all reality their spirit man has not grown in years.

The will of God for every child of God is that we increase in every area of life. Our increasing gives witness of God’s goodness. We become a living testimony bearing witness that the Word of God is true. The bible tells us that God proved His love to us. God is always seeking ways to prove His love in our lives. God is a good God. Our lives should bear fruit of His goodness. There is so much more for you. Rise up in the grace of God, and increase. God is on your side, fear not, He will not allow your foot to slide. Be bold and seek His face and glorify Him in your race. The day will soon come when we will all see His face. Rise up and take your place, you are on the increase in Christ Jesus!

How Bad Do You Want It?

Every day we have the opportunity to devote our time and attention to something. Most often times the things we give priority to are the things we value the most. People sometimes spend years researching and studying different interest because it is something they like, so they give much time and dedication to find out as much as they can on the subject. When a person is hired on a job they sometimes are given manuals or computer modules to read so that they can know how to do their job from the employer’s perspective. If this new employee wants to be successful, then they will spend numerous hours not only reading the required info given to them by the employer, but they will go the extra mile and learn more and do more than the minimum requirements.

When something is of value to someone it shows. Their dedication and loyalty to adjust their own life and schedule to accommodate the thing valued is evident. Jesus made a statement in the bible quite similar to the point I am trying to make: “If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15”

Jesus was saying if you love me then make me priority in your life. Go out of your way and day to learn about me and to adjust your life to agree with my manual (the bible).

What are your priorities? Do you want a successful marriage? Then study and dedicate time on the subject. Do you want success in parenting? Then study and dedicate time on the subject. Do you need healing in your body or mind? Then study and dedicate time on the subject.

Nothing just happens, you must do your part. God has provided answers to every question you will ever ask, but He is not going to cram them down your spirit or soul.

How bad do you want it?

God has a plan for every life but it will not just magically appear. Sometimes we spend days and weeks tending to trivial things and never giving any attention to the precious things. How bad do you want the plan that God has for your life to be fulfilled? How much time do you spend on seeking out that plan? How much time do you spend following His plan for your life and not your own plans?

How bad do you want it?

Your daily focus and interest can give us the answer.

Let the Thunder Roll

Job 40:9

Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

The bible tells us in the book of Job that God’s voice can sound like thunder! How awesome is that?!

Whenever there is a thunder storm, I am quickly reminded of that verse and comforted in it’s meaning.

God is not destructive with His power, He is AWESOME and CREATIVE! We oftentimes stereo-type things by hearsay or ignorance. I don’t believe God created thunder and lightening to be destructive. God is a good God. God is Love! He is a protector not a violator. Everything God made in the Genesis account was said of God to be good. There is a Heavenly beauty in seeing lightening and hearing thunder. It is not a frightening sound but rather a sound of dominion.

When the bible describes God’s voice sounding like thunder, to me it denotes ruler-ship and authority over all. I think the sound of thunder is majestic and glorious. As a matter of fact, I enjoy watching thunder storms from a nice big picture window………….it is so cool! When I was a little girl, I used to lay out on the front porch with my eyes facing the sky and daydream and imagine the clouds to be different animals. This was a very peaceful pass time for me, I truly enjoyed it.

So the next time you hear the thunder roar, stop and reflect on its sound and Praise God for His wondrous works among the children of men!

The Great Exchange

We live in a world today where people esteem things, customs, traditions, sports, occupations, entertainment, ideas, inventions and other people more than they ought to. These things are nice and can be very convenient but they were never to be exalted to the place where people have exalted them today. Inventions like air-conditioning help keep us cool in hot temperatures and furnaces that help warm us during those cold seasons are welcomed and enjoyable but they are not indispensable to life. If you didn’t have those things you could still live and enjoy life. I remember as a young girl growing up, in the summer months it would be so hot outside that you could literally see the heat waves in the atmosphere. We did not have air-conditioning most of my childhood but we went about everyday life and did just fine. There are things that are greater than modern day conveniences. Some people would rather die than give up their conveniences. These things may help in making our every day life easier but they can never provide life or true peace. Life and Peace only come from God.

The bible says, For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 16:26

Exchange defined:

  • To give something and receive something different in return.
  • To hand something over and receive as a replacement something more suitable or more satisfactory.

The above scripture challenges us to evaluate our lives and to weigh those things in life that we deem profitable to us. What one person may consider to be profitable may not seem profitable to the next person. What do you value in life? What do you give most of your time and energy to? These are the things that can easily distract us from our soul prosperity. The soul is comprised of our mind, will and emotions. What things have you exchanged for true peace of mind? What things have you exchanged for a will that is totally surrendered to fulfilling God’s plans and purposes in your life and the lives of your children and family? What things have you exchanged for sound, stable emotions?

Sometimes the exchange is subtle and seemingly unnoticeable until it has robbed us of years of productivity and fruitfulness. Sometimes people don’t even realize they have replaced valuable time spent with love ones with sitting in front of a television set until they look up and suddenly wake up to what they have lost.  They exchanged or replaced a relationship with their family with something they thought was more satisfying or suitable to their leisure. However the bible says what does those things profit a man if he loses his own soul. How suitable are those things when you find yourself in the midst of a hard situation? Can those things that you have given weeks, months and sometimes years of your time, attention and devotion to help you?

Nothing can ever replace or be more suitable than the presences of God. When we devote time and energy to God and His will we always come out profitable. Our soul belongs to God. We must be alert and watchful to guard our lives of those things that would come to steal our affection and attention from God.

The bible says, Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul1Peter 2:11

God loves you. God loves spending time with you. God loves to encourage, strengthen and build you up. It is God’s delight to bless you and multiply you in good things. It is so wonderful to hang out with God and let Him teach you and show you things to come. God loves to share His plans, thoughts and ways with His family. Nothing is of more greater value than God. Life is short, so we must choose to invest our time and efforts wisely if we are going to have good success in life.

Don’t you think it’s time to exam your own life and begin to allow God to show you all of those things that need to be eliminated or exchanged for the greater things of God’s Kingdom and purposes. Your life is valuable, you are important to God. Don’t exchange the greater for the lesser but rather lay hold on the greater and see your life and future soar like an eagle!

Secrets, Truths, and Hidden Things

1 Corinthians 14:2 (AMP)

For one who speaks in an [unknown] tongue speaks not to men but to God, for no one understands or catches his meaning, because in the [Holy] Spirit he utters secret truths and hidden things [not obvious to the understanding].

It is such an honor to be able to talk with God. We not only get to talk to Him but He also talks with us. Prayer is a form of communication. Jesus made if possible through His death, burial and resurrection for believers to communicate with God. God is our Father and He enjoys talking with His children just like we enjoy talking with our children. However, God is God, and there are times when we may not know quite what to say or how to express ourselves in our natural language to Him. God has made it possible for believers to receive a supernatural prayer language whereby we may communicate things that are beyond our natural understanding. We don’t know everything, but God does. There are situations , circumstances and much more that we need God’s insight and discernment to know what is going on or to know what to do next. The scripture above says we utter or speak secret truths and hidden things, by the Holy Spirit, that are not obvious to the understanding. God is always willing to help us but we must be willing to be helped. It is not logical or natural to pray in a language you don’t understand but it is of God and it is supernatural. Just because we may not fully understand this gift God has given to His church to communicate with Him doesn’t mean we should not use it. We may not know how our car does everything it does to get us from point A to point B but that doesn’t keep us from driving it. God is a good God, every gift from Him is good. God would never give us anything that would destroy or hurt us, He loves us. We must trust Him in everything and never hesitate to do what He ask of us. If God says we should pray in unknown tongues then we obey. If God says love your enemies then we must obey. If God says resist the devil and he will flee from you then we must obey. Whatever He says to do, just do, regardless if you understand it or not, prove your love and trust to Him by obeying what He says without doubting or complaining.

The Holy Spirit helps us to communicate to God in an unknown tongue or language. We who love God count it an honor and privilege to communicate with Him and we take full advantage of every good gift and available help He has provided for us to do so. God knows what we need to live as an over -comer in this life. We must not reject or neglect the precious things He has freely given us. Take advantage of the free gift of unknown tongues and benefit from its power. You won’t regret it!

Protection from the Strife of Tongues

Psalms 31:20

Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

Today let us dive into the revealed word the Holy Spirit has for us concerning the protection God gives us from the strife of tongues.

We know and are confident that God is our strength, a very present help in times of trouble. God is our protector no matter what the attack but we must endeavor to remain in our place of safety.

Protector defined:

• Somebody who protects or defends somebody or something.

God is not just another form of protection for the Christian who; trusts, relies on and depends on Him. He is our only source of protection. Many times people like to have a little something on the side just in case God doesn’t follow through on His promise to protect them. Well, that’s unbelief. God will always come through for us, He is not a man that He should lie.

The word of God speaks loudly to us from Psalms 31:20 that God will keep us or protect us from the strife of tongues. Now, that doesn’t mean you will never hear anyone talk bad about you or lie on you or gossip about you or think and speak evil of you. Yes, these forms of persecution will come, but God is saying, “I won’t let those words harm you.” Words are carriers; they can contain life or death, blessing or cursing. The scriptures tell us that the power of life and death are in the tongue. God speaks words of life, Jesus said his words are spirit and they are life. The devil on the other hand speaks words of death and destruction.

Strife defined:

• Bitter and sometimes violent conflict, struggle, or rivalry.

The devil lives to release words of strife. Strife robs and steals the joys of each new day.

Hebrews 12:15 declares, “Exercise foresight and be on the watch to look [after one another], to see that no one falls back from and fails to secure God’s grace (His unmerited favor and spiritual blessing), in order that no root of resentment (rancor, bitterness, or hatred) shoots forth and causes trouble and bitter torment, and the many become contaminated and defiled by it–.”

The enemy sends words of strife or bitterness to defile you. He wants to corrupt your pure minds. Seeds of bitterness that are planted in the soil of a person’s heart will wage war on their soul. These words will seek to shut down the progress of the word of God in their lives. Words of bitterness will cause conflict in your mind, will and emotions, seeking to abort the process of transformation. It will soon permeate through you to others causing arguments, discord and all kinds of trouble. It will seek to thwart every relationship in your life; your marriage, children, employer, neighbors, extended family.

But God has promised to hide us from the effects and poison of the strife of tongues. The devil will release this weapon against you but it won’t prosper. The words will fall to the ground ineffective and powerless against you. These words of strife can never penetrate God’s shield of protection. You will be inaccessible to their bite. However, in order to benefit from God’s protection we must do our part and stay in the secret of His presence. We cannot try to venture out on our own and seek to correct the situation. We must stay hidden in Christ. It doesn’t matter what people are saying about you, don’t let it get to you. Just stay in your protection. The enemy will try to lure you out through your five physical senses or your untrained emotions. You may say, “But they hurt my feelings,” that’s because you was peeking out and you let that evil dart scratch your skin and some poison slipped in. You need to get back into the secret place of God’s presences, letting Him heal and conceal you. Don’t yield to the temptation to be nosey, “Wonder what they are saying about me.” This will only draw you out of your secret place of protection.

Just sit down in God’s presence and rest. He will protect and shelter you through the test.
