Labor of Love

1 Thessalonians 1:3

Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

The labor of Love is a work of the spirit that is well pleasing to God. When we think of Love, we don’t generally think of it in terms of work or labor. The scripture here in Thessalonians describes Love as labor.

Now, many times people consider the word labor to be a negative word. A word associated with pain and strenuous effort. They see it as hard work and struggle.

The word labor defined:

• The supply of work or workers for a particular job, industry, or employer.

• Work done using the strength of the body.

I like the term supply of work; to me, it implies giving of what you already have. When you give and do your part out of the supply that you already have, it takes the struggle out. God does not expect us to do anything in our own strength. He supplies all our needs so that we can work in love. Labor of Love speaks boldly to us that Love is our business or work while we are here on the earth. Everything we do should be born out of the Love of God.

The term strength of the body in the definition above caught my attention in that labor should be a unified force. Every member of the body doing their part working together for the cause of Christ. When every part is doing its work of faith and labor of love it produces a greater ease, a quicker and more efficient work.

So as you work for the Kingdom of God today remember it is a Labor of Love employed by Love.

God’s Endless Reservoir of Strength

Ephesians 6:10-11

In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides].

Paul gives us a very important key here concerning battle victory. He said “be strong in the Lord”, meaning, NOT in your own strength, but in the strength of the Almighty. Our strength is null compared to God’s strength. Human strength does little to nothing when it comes to spiritual things. Human strength is fragile and limited. It is so far below the true power and strength available to believers through Christ.

Be strong in the Lord. This strength gives believers an advantage over every foe and natural weaknesses. We must draw this strength from God. It is available and ready 24/7, but we must draw it out, like water from an unending reservoir.

Reservoir defined:

  • A substantial reserve supply of something intangible

Go ahead tap into the limitless strength of God, it belongs to you! So drink up and let Him fill your cup with His glorious strength and might.

Living Large

Judges 18:9-10

And they said, Arise, that we may go up against them: for we have seen the land, and, behold, it is very good: and are ye still? be not slothful to go, and to enter to possess the land.

When ye go, ye shall come unto a people secure, and to a large land: for God hath given it into your hands; a place where there is no want of any thing that is in the earth.

God wants His children to live large! But we must be willing to rise up and go get what He has already given to us. The things God has provided for us are worth the effort. The scripture says to not be slothful. Well that word slothful means don’t be lazy. Laziness is a deadly hindrance to our destiny. It will pickpocket your divine vision and steal your dreams.

Laziness defined

• Unwilling to do any work or make an effort

• Moving slow

We must arm ourselves against this enemy of our faith and destiny. You must never allow your will to oppose God’s will for your life. Don’t argue and resist God’s plans and purposes for you by being lazy or complaining and  focusing on your inabilities. Make an effort to get up and go where He wants you to go. Get excited about things He has called you to do and then do them with the right attitude. Enter into your land of promise with the intent to take over. This is not a time to window shop, it’s time to possess.

God is extravagant; don’t limit your land to a small square foot. It’s a large land. Let God stretch your imagination and boost your expectation through meditation and supernatural insight. Be ready to see with your heart the things God reveals to you. Believe and receive! God has a place for you where there is no want or lack of anything that is in the earth. He is our Shepherd we shall not want!

So rise up and live large today!

Are You Increasing?

Luke 2:52 (AMP)

And Jesus increased in wisdom (in broad and full understanding) and in stature and years, and in favor with God and man.

Jesus increased. He did not stay the same year after year, His life bore fruit of progress. He was not stagnant. Sometimes people just talk a good talk, yet their life has no evidence of real change or increase. They make no effort to see increase in their life. They do the same things;  year after year, yet they expect different results in their lives. They want results that they see others have who are really doing what it takes to get results. In all reality their spirit man has not grown in years.

The will of God for every child of God is that we increase in every area of life. Our increasing gives witness of God’s goodness. We become a living testimony bearing witness that the Word of God is true. The bible tells us that God proved His love to us. God is always seeking ways to prove His love in our lives. God is a good God. Our lives should bear fruit of His goodness. There is so much more for you. Rise up in the grace of God, and increase. God is on your side, fear not, He will not allow your foot to slide. Be bold and seek His face and glorify Him in your race. The day will soon come when we will all see His face. Rise up and take your place, you are on the increase in Christ Jesus!

Be True to Yourself

In a world that everything has become acceptable and blindly tolerable, you must decide and take a stand for what is permissible for you. Be true to yourself by choosing the only standard that will bring a favorable eternal outcome. Being true to yourself means being honest in your own heart. If you are not up to par in your walk with God then just admit it then make the adjustments and grow up and move forward. We all know it is miserable to be out of the will of God. Many times you can see the distress and void on people’s faces. They pretend to be having a good time (spiritually and naturally). They smile yet all the while they are kicking against the pricks of their God given destiny. They try to engage in vain amusements and mind cluttering activities so they won’t have to think about the sorrow and emptiness that press daily on their hearts.

Being true to one self means to stop the facade and get off the roller coaster of worldliness. It means getting down to business with you. It means pointing your own finger in your own face and saying stop, no more pretenses, it’s all or nothing, I choose to go forward.

Being true to yourself means staying with your decision to obey God no matter what anybody else chooses to do.

Being true to yourself means stepping back and letting God take the lead in your life. We can do nothing without God, yet we can do all things through Him.

Make the decision that today is your day, to be true to yourself and begin living the blessed life that Jesus purchased for you!

The Well

John 4: 4-6

And he must needs go through Samaria. Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.

(READ THE ENTIRE CHAPTER OF JOHN 4)

Many times during the day and throughout our busy work week, God is trying to get our attention. God is trying to lead us to the well. Yes, the well.

The well is a place where sinners meet forgiveness. The well is a place where broken hearts surrender to the voice of healing. The well is a place where secret issues of the heart are uncovered and new life discovered. The well is a place where man encounters God. The well is a place where lonely hearts gather and find a friend that sticks closer than a brother. The well is a place where the lost are found. The well is a place where miracles happen. The well is a place where spiritual thirst is quenched with living water. The well is a place where chains of bondage are broken and every captive set free. The well is a place. The well is a place where eternal life flows. The well is a place where destiny is unveiled and our true God given purpose prevails. The well is a place where questions of the spirit and soul are answered. The well is a place of Divine appointments. The well is a place where the rejected and outcast encounters open arms of divine acceptance. The well is a place where fears are conquered. The well is a place where grace abounds. The well is a place where the anointing of God flows; lifting every burden, destroying every yoke. The well is a place where dreams meet reality. The well is a place of freedom.

Jesus traveled many miles one day to get to a well. His steps of obedience brought deliverance and life to a woman who was in desperate need of freedom. His steps of obedience changed a whole city.

Can God lead you to a well today? Maybe the well God wants to lead you to is a grocery store where a new widow needs words of encouragement. Maybe the well God wants to lead you to is a family member, a beautician, a bus stop, a hospital, a boss’s office, a neighbor, a frightened child, an abused wife, a lonely single woman, etc. No matter the place there is grace to meet ever need. Open your mouth and let words of life and healing virtue flow and bring salvation to many.

None Compares

Psalms 89:5-9

And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O LORD: thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints. For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD? God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him. O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee? Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.

God is God all by Himself. He stands unmatched in all His mighty works. He is the ultimate and there is none like Him, nor shall there ever be. He is the first and the last. He is undefeated. He is the only wise God.

To compare God to anyone or anything is a failure in your assessment of true greatness. The truth of the matter is God cannot be compared, He is matchless. None compares to Him!

Put it On

Put on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil. Ephesians 6:10

God has given us everything we need to win in this world. The life of a Christian is challenged with many obstacles and trials (temptations and test). However, we can be prepared to strike down and destroy every attack and/or strategy of the enemy. The above scripture instructs God’s people to “put on” God’s armor. This armor is not for the unsaved or the unbeliever, those who have not yielded their lives to Jesus Christ, the Messiah. The armor was designed to only fit and be worn by God’s beloved. The suit of armor is tailor –made, with specific features to fit the curves and the heights and depths of your life. It expands and enlarges to keep up with the growth spurts of your spiritual anatomy. However, it must be worn to be effective and fulfill its purpose in your life. If a man owned every kind of weaponry; guns of every sort, spears of every size, knives, helmets, bullet proof vest; and whatever else man’s hands have crafted, but never put it on it could not protect him. He lost the battle when the enemy attacked, simply because he did not wear the armor. The equipment was not faulty, he just didn’t “put it on.” Owning armor and wearing it is two different things. To every Christian, our God says to us, “put on” the whole armor of God and then you can stand up against the strategies of the enemy.

In a world filled with darkness, death and deceit; I encourage you to get dressed, by putting on God’s best!

Who Must Die Because You Refused to Live?

I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord (Psalms 118:17).

God is Love and Life. Jesus declared, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6). We are His body, the chosen guiding light of the world. Jesus lives on the inside of every born again child of God. We are His hands, feet, mouth piece, arms, legs, shoulders etc. If spiritually dead people are going to live, it is because we choose to let our light shine and live; and declare the works of God.

What are the works of God?

Jesus said, Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake (John 14:11).

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord (Luke 4:18-19).

Jesus brought life to the world. He brought healing to the sick, peace to the troubled, joy to the sorrowful, resurrection life to the dead, strength to the weary, sight to the blind, wholeness to the broken and fearful soul, deliverance to the demon possessed,  hope to the hopeless, and He brought Light into the world.

Life produces and creates life. The scriptures declare, In Him was life; and the life was the light of men (John 1:4-5). The kingdom of darkness will never overthrow or extinguish the light; nor can it understand the light. However, people can be delivered and freed out of darkness and translated into the kingdom of light – the kingdom of God’s Son (Colossians 1:13).

Translated defined: moving from one place or condition to another (New Oxford American Dictionary).

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! (Romans 10:13-15)

God’s works are to be told from the mountain top, to the valley low. Wherever we go people should know that we are the children of God. We have a testimony and we are witnesses of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. No one should have to die without Him, because you did not want to share Him and declare His works!

It Shall Come to Pass

Isaiah 55:10-11

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

I love this scripture because it’s just so straight to the point; it’s so sounds like our God. It is so good to be able to hear God’s personality and character in His Words. I can just see God saying this verse. It just makes you shake your head like yep, yep that’s my God. God’s nature is so consistent. He’s not one way today and then tomorrow you can barely recognize Him. When we begin to become more deeply and intimately acquainted with God we can easily recognize His voice/words in a crowd of talking people.

God reveals to us in Isaiah 55:11, that He is indeed a speaking God. He mentions the words that go froth out of His mouth. Remember God told us that man cannot live by bread only but by every word the proceeds or goes forth out of His mouth. When God releases words out of His mouth they have a purpose and a destination. God promises that if He is the true author of those words then they will produce. God promises that they will not return to Him void or with a sad story about how they failed or how they were defeated or harassed by the devil. No, God says, MY, words will not return empty, they dare not come back to God with an excuse or alibi. God’s words must obey Him. God’s words have no other alternative but to do what He said, they don’t know how to disobey Him.

God said, His words will accomplish what pleases Him. His words don’t go out of His mouth and then just do what they want to do, no their mission is to please God and what pleases God is His words fulfilling their destiny. God’s words have assignments they are not just idle, vain conversations, they have purpose. However, it’s one thing to have a purpose but it’s entirely a whole different level for that purpose to prosper. God says not only do I speak words that have purpose but I direct those words to where they need to go, I watch over those words to make sure they carry out all that I intended and accomplish all that pleases me. The words that God speaks are loaded with power to prosper; they have the power within themselves to fulfill His will. God’s words will always: do well, show a profit, flourish, thrive, be in the black and grow. When God speaks the whole earth travails until those words are fulfilled and pleases Him.

So allow the Holy Ghost to bring to your remembrance everything God has spoken and then know it shall come to pass. Not one jot, not one tittle will go unfulfilled. Just watch and see!

Take confidence in the things that God has spoken to you personally and know that He will fulfill His word, all of it, not 99%; only 100% is acceptable and pleasing to God.
