Excursion

2Timothy 4:7-8

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Excursion defined:

• A temporary deviation from a regular course or pattern.

Paul tells us that he finished his course. In order for Paul to finish his course he had to stay focused and not deviate from God’s original plan for his life. The scriptures reveal to us in Psalms 37:23-24, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.”

An excursion is a temporary deviation from a regular course. This means that we can get back on track even if we have brief moments of digression. However, it must be understood that excursions are not built –in or add-on side journeys that God includes in our destinies. An excursion is something we step aside to do that was not part of the master plan.

Several years ago our family went on a Caribbean cruise. On this cruise we decided to book some excursions at the different port of calls we were to stop at. The time allotted for the excursion was not to exceed the time the ship was to be docked at the port. At one particular port some passengers that were aboard the ship decided to go on an extended excursion meaning they went further and stay longer than they should have and the ship captain was not pleased that he had to wait for them and announced his displeasure over the intercom. As a matter of fact he was two seconds from leaving them when he got a call saying they were on their way, they had some car trouble.

Sometimes when people decide to veer from the plans and purposes of God they don’t take into consideration that they may not make it back. Excursions may seem fun for the time being but they are not worth the risk of getting left behind.

Slack

Joshua 18:1-3

And the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them. And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance. And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you?

Slack is a doorway to lack. Lack is a close companion of sorrow and regret.

Slack defined:

• To be lazy, avoid work, or work with insufficient vigor or concentration.

• To neglect something such as duty, or leave something undone.

God had already given Israel a wonderful inheritance. God not only told them about their inheritance, He also showed it to them. God wanted His people to live in and enjoy the blessing of their inheritance all the days of their lives on this earth but they were slack. They knew it was available and real, they just made little or no effort to go possess it. They probably talked about it all the time like most Christians talk about what the Bible says belongs to them however they did not possess it. Knowing something belongs to you but lacking the diligence to go get it is tragic.

There were 12 tribes of the children of Israel but only 5 of the 12 had actually possessed the land of promise God had given them. Joshua asked them a very vital question that should have initiated self-examination. “How long are you slack to go possess the land?” Today, I would say it like this, “How long are you going to just sit there and be lazy? When are you going to rise up and obtain all that God has for you?”

Ephesians 2: 10

For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].

God has an awesome plan for your life but you must cast off slack and get down to business. Our time here on the earth is short; we must be about our Father’s business. We must be sober and vigilant, refusing to be distracted by Satan’s devices that rob and steal destinies and dreams. We must resist the temptation to be idle, sluggish, bored and indifferent with our inheritance and the work of God. It is time to stand tall and be strong in the Lord, laying aside every weight and the sin that comes to beset and stop divine progress. The word beset means to harass or trouble somebody or something continually. Therefore we must put an immediate stop to slack in our lives. It is time to grow up and stop acting like immature children and mere unchanged men; gossiping and complaining, then free-loading on other people’s faith.

Slack is a work of the flesh. The flesh is an enemy of God.

Your life is precious, vital and strategic to the plan of God and the Body of Christ. We need each other to be all that God has called us to be and do. It was not enough that only 5 tribes of Israel had possessed their inheritance, God wanted them all to go into the promise land. God wants the whole Body of Christ to inherit and walk in all that He has given us. Come on, let us rise up and possess the whole land!

Impenetrable Protection

The world oftentimes conditions people to think that a thief can break in anywhere, locked or unlocked. Movies and news media, etc, propagate; helplessness and fear in the arena of thieves. They say, lock all your doors and windows and don’t forget the security alarms but then they show you pictures of thieves who know how to breakthrough every device known to man. What kind of confidence and assurance would that bring to the average on-looker.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I am not an advocate for shabby, happy-go-lucky living. You should use wisdom and protect what belongs to you. You should use locks and so forth, without fear. Fear assist demonic breakthrough. We should never do anything out of fear. God has not given us a spirit of fear but a spirit of power, love and a sound (well-disciplined) mind.

Thief defined:

• One that steals especially stealthily or secretly.

To steal is to take something that belongs to somebody else, illegally or without the owner’s permission. If you give them permission they did not steal it… right. But what if you leave the door unlocked through neglect and somebody came in and took something without your permission does that still make them a thief. Of course it does, because you did not give them permission to have whatever they took.

Now the kingdoms of this world view thieves differently than the Kingdom of God. Sometimes as Christians we need to re-evaluate our thinking and find out, “Who told you that.”

The world’s system of protection is not fail proof like the Kingdom of God protection because in the world system human beings are the one’s making the locks. Therefore, there is always someone who knows how to open or jimmy the device. Thieves are crafty and work stealthily to take what doesn’t belong to them. They plan, plot and strategize sometimes for days, weeks, or months to steal your valuables. They study different locks and do their homework on various methods and approaches to rip you off. They are focused and diligent in their pursuit of the merchandise they want, they value it sometimes more than you do and it shows through their persistent effort to get it from you.

Jesus said:

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal Matthew 6:19-20.

Notice Jesus said thieves’ breakthrough and steal here on earth, which represents this natural world. However, He then said thieves cannot breakthrough and still in heaven, which represents God’s supernatural eternal Kingdom. Now we know from the scripture that the Kingdom of God is within

us, Luke 17:21.

The devil has no legal right to anything in God’s Kingdom. Therefore if he takes something from you, you gave him permission, directly or indirectly. The devil doesn’t have the keys to get through barriers of pray or the power of the blood of Jesus or the angels of God around about you or the Word of God that you release by faith. We don’t ever have to sit around in fear wondering when the devil is going to breakthrough our spiritual lock or decipher the divine protection code in our lives. He cannot just do whatever he wants anytime he wants to when JESUS IS LORD of your life.

Fear not, be at peace and rest because you are blessed and fully protected!

God Reveals Purpose

1Corinthians 2:9-10 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

Do you love God?

If your answer is yes, I have good news for you. God has things He has prepared just for you. And God has already told you about them. Your spirit already has insight and divine knowledge of your destiny. And the way He has revealed them to us is by His Spirit, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit reveals to us things God has prepared for us. Notice the scripture says the things which God hath prepared, meaning it already has been done. He also said God hath revealed them unto us, meaning He has already uncovered them to our spirit. The word reveal means; to disclose something that was unknown or secret.

Listen, God is not withholding or hiding His purpose for your life from you. Your future in Christ is not a secret. Unclutter your mind and free it from anxieties and fear through the refreshing rain poured out in your daily communion in God’s Word, and you will soon rediscover a greater flow of what you already know flooding back into your soul, reigniting a zeal and passion for your God given purpose. So away with the thought, “I don’t know” and get ready to go and do, follow through, with what the Hoy Spirit has revealed to you, IN JESUS NAME!

Be Prepared to Win

Whenever you go into a battle go in with the intent to win. You must never entertain the thought of losing or defeat. Go into the battle prepared to win. God is a prepared God, He is always ready.

Prepared defined:

  • ready to deal with something or made ready, beforehand.

To be unprepared is to be un-armed. To be un-armed is to proclaim your enemy the victor even before the battle begins. We must be fully persuaded that we can and will defeat the opposing forces. The bible commands us to gird up the loins of our minds, meaning you must be mentally prepared as well as spiritually. Your mind plays a vital part in your victory because it can sway your spirit to win or lose. If you have stinking thinking then you will negate the faith of your spirit and cause shipwreck of your course. God tells us in Romans 12:1-2, to renew our minds so that we can begin to think like Him. Gods thoughts are always filled with victory and triumph. You will never catch God thinking of defeat and failure. So as we begin to renew our minds and think like God we will think and speak victory. You are a winner, so always be prepared to win.

2Timothy 2:21

If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

Stop! You’re Under Arrest

Have you ever seen one of those old western movies on TV like one of those police series from the 1980’s. Whenever they arrested someone, they first commanded the person to stop, then drop their weapon, and then lift their hands up in the air to indicate total surrender. This person had been apprehended and was now taken in for questioning.

Arrest defined:

• to seize or detain something by legal authority

• to stop or slow something

• to suddenly capture and hold something, especially somebody’s attention

Did you not know God has the legal right to arrest His people? When we give our lives to Christ, we legally belong to Him, not as a slave but as free.

1Corinthians 19-20

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Because God purchased us He has a right to arrest us when we are possessin’ or packin’ things on or in our person that would be harmful or dangerous to others and ourselves. God has a legal right to seize you when you are carrying cares or worrying about what tomorrow may bring. He has a right to say, “Stop, in the name of the Lord, drop that care, put your hands up in the air and surrender!

He has a right to stop you or slow you down when you are spiritually, so to speak, driving wrecklessly at dangerously high speeds through the highways of life, with no direction or revelation of your God given purpose. When you are making repeated wrong decisions from your human reasoning or livng life in the flesh and not in the spirit, you need to be apprehended. God has a right to say, “Stop, pull over, you’re out of control, this car will be impounded for the next 30 days.”

Aren’t you glad for Divine interruptions? Many times through the preaching and teaching of the Word of God or through mere personal bible study and meditation, God has arrested me for my own good and safety.

All arrest aren’t bad, even in the natural, they sometimes save lives from the immature and destructive behaviors of others. Many police officers have pulled over drunken drivers because they were swerving in and out of their lanes. A night spent in jail for them probably saved their life and the lives of many others.

God loves you and wants the best for you. He is Father and watches over us affectionately. In order for us to arrive safely at our Divine Destinies we must continue to give God our undivided attention. Our lives and futures are important to God so don’t live life wrecklessly; without aim or direction. We must seek to lay hold of the thing for which Christ apprehended us for.

It’s time to grow up, stand up and take our rightful place as the mature sons of God. Stay on track, pick-up the slack, and don’t even think about lookin back!

Stay watchful, Stay alert, Drive safely………………Pay attention!

And let us not be offended when we have been spiritually rear ended but let us realize the driver was probably not paying attention.

Never Fear

There is but One True God. He is Mighty. He is unmatchable. He is Love. Love never fails. Therefore you need not fear, ever. For the Lord our God is with you to protect you, no matter where you go. He is our defense, no one is bigger than our God. He is great and powerful!

God has promised never to leave nor forsake us. Just think about that, if God is always with us, who or what can defeat God/ Well of course the answer is nothing can or ever will defeat God, He is the undefeatable Champion!!

What need is there to fear, fret or panic about anything? When you know that God is with you 24/7, perfect love cast out fear. Jesus told the disciples many thimes during His earthly ministry, “Be not afraid! Fear not! Why are you fearful? ,,,etc”

Do you think God was trying to tell us something? YES! Never give place to fear in your life, it is not from God. Fear bring torment, not peace. Fear does not belong to you, it is an enemy not a friend. Cast it out, evict it and never let it in again. There is no room in our life for fear. Don’t let it come in an live in your guest room for awhile. Put your foot down and say no. No to fear everyday of your life!

So enter everyday with confidence, not in your own strength but in His great faithfulness!

Psalms 27 :1-6

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

Seeking God

1 Chronicles 28:9

And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

True wisdom flows from the heart of kings. David gave Solomon his son great wisdom for his relationship with God. David was a man after God’s heart. David knew some things that pleased God so He lovingly imparted what he knew to his own son. When we have children we want them to have the best in life. We want them to experience the good and not the bad. We try to keep them from going through the things we had to go through by imparting wisdom to them. David knew that God required us to serve Him with a perfect and willing heart. Our hearts must be free from impurities or things that would hinder our serve to God. God knows all hearts and He sees every imagination and thought. We must seek to keep our thoughts and imaginations clean and pure, God sees all and knows all.

This scripture lets us know that if we seek God He will be found of us. God is not hiding Himself from us because He doesn’t want us to find Him; God wants us to find Him. God loves to be sought out. When we seek God we will not be disappointed. You know how sometimes you begin to search for something because somebody told you how good the product was however when you found it, it was not worth the hunt. When we seek God we will find Him to be well worth the pursuit.

Eat Right

Jeremiah 15:16

Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.

The word of God is nourishment for the whole man. The best meal of our day is not dunkin donuts or bacon and eggs. The best meal of the day is the Word of God. The word of God reaches every realm of our being: spirit, soul and body. God’s word should be the joy and rejoicing of our heart.

As you search the scriptures today let God’s word enrich and fulfill your every desire.

It is so important that we eat right. We need the right food so that we can grow properly and fulfill our God given Destiny. Be diligent to hear what the Holy Spirit is saying to you in the Word of God today. Let that word sink way down deep into every fiber of your being. As you practice this you will notice an increase in supernatural joy. This Heavenly joy comes from God and it produces supernatural strength, helping you to maintain a steady course in the path God has chosen for your life.

So eat and be filled to the full, even to overflow as you partake of the Word of Life!

Login to Win

Hebrews 4:15-16

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Have you ever seen pop-ups or sales advertisements that try to get your attention with the phrase “login for a free chance to win a car, a TV, a boat, etc., etc., etc? Well, for you to qualify you have to first login or show up. Many times we miss out on wonderful benefits in life just because we don’t show up or we fail to follow through or follow instructions or we just downright refuse to participate because of so called “other obligations.” By the way, I am not validating these pop-up advertisements as being legitimate, I am just using them as an example.

God has so many things to impart to us and so many wonderful “free” blessings and benefits to share with us but we need to login. By login I mean we need to commune with God on a daily basis, we need to show up at the throne at least once a day, he has so much for us and many faith filled words to say. In God’s presence there is fullness of joy and pleasures forever. Who in their right mind would not want to login to that kind of atmosphere every day, come on, at least once a day? The world is so dark and gloomy but I’m so glad God has provided a place where we can come, an experience pleasure and joy every day, several times a day, Hallelujah! As we frequent this place of refuge and refreshing we will notice more daily victories in our lives. God’s plan for us is that in every situation, every test, every trial, every temptation, we win.

Login to daily bible study and find out what benefits you have in Christ. In the natural, if I asked you what is the name of your insurance company and what are your benefits you would at least know some if not all of them. How much more should we know what belongs to us in the Kingdom of God. God has provided all we need to win every day, but we must login to win. We have been given access by faith into this grace wherein we stand. So come boldly to the throne of God daily, so that you can experience uninterrupted victory. Come on now, Login to Win!
