Are You Listening?

 1Corinthians 14:1-11

There are, I suppose, all these many [to us unknown] tongues in the world [somewhere], and none is destitute of [its own power of] expression and meaning.

But if I do not know the force and significance of the speech (language), I shall seem to be a foreigner to the one who speaks [to me], and the speaker who addresses [me] will seem a foreigner to me.

Listening, listening, always listening

God is speaking are you listening? The bible says there are many voices in the world and none are without significance but if you don’t understand the dialect of the one speaking, it will be strange or foreign to you. Every born again believer should be familiar with God’s voice. Even at a whisper we know it’s Him. Familiarity comes from intimacy, union and close relationship. When you are around someone a lot you become very acquainted with not only the sound of their voice but also the way they communicate and the choice of words they select to correspond with others. God has provided a way that we can hear Him speak to us every day. One way God communicates with us is through His word. When we spend time fellowshipping with God by studying His word, learning His character, His nature, His ways, and His heart we begin to cultivate and sharpen, by grace, our ability to recognize Him more quickly and clearly.

Acts 22:14

And he said, The God of our forefathers has destined and appointed you to come progressively to know His will [to perceive, to recognize more strongly and clearly, and to become better and more intimately acquainted with His will], and to see the Righteous One (Jesus Christ, the Messiah), and to hear a voice from His [own] mouth and a message from His [own] lips;

Move With God

 Proverbs 3:5-6 (amp)

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.

In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.

Have you ever been at a stop light waiting for the light to change and suddenly the car in front of you and beside you begin to move forward. How many times have you taken your foot off the brake and proceeded to drive without even looking to see if the light was green. Sometimes in life we begin moving, doing and busying ourselves just because everything else around us is moving. There are times when the light is still red for your journey or maybe has taken a turn from the majority’s path but you and I must learn to obey the signals for our own course.

On the other hand, we also can get distracted with the trivialities of life and miss our green light and have to sit still until the light turns green again. We must practice being alert to the instructions God gives us and keep our focus in the right direction.

Precious Ointment

 Matthew 26:6-13

Now when Jesus came back to Bethany and was in the house of Simon the leper, A woman came up to Him with an alabaster flask of very precious perfume, and she poured it on His head as He reclined at table. And when the disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, For what purpose is all this waste? For this perfume might have been sold for a large sum and the money given to the poor. But Jesus, fully aware of this, said to them, Why do you bother the woman? She has done a noble (praiseworthy and beautiful) thing to Me. For you always have the poor among you, but you will not always have Me. In pouring this perfume on My body she has done something to prepare Me for My burial. Truly I tell you, wherever this good news (the Gospel) is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will be told also, in memory of her.

This woman honored God with her best. She could have went and bought some cheap oil and pretended in front of the people to be doing something noble but her heart was not to impress those standing around looking she wanted to honor God. This woman obviously took to heart all that Jesus had been saying about His death, burial and resurrection and sought to honor Him in helping Him to prepare for His ultimate sacrifice.

Jesus is coming back soon just like He said. There are ways we who believe can honor Him and prepare for His soon arrival. Choose today and every day to honor Him with your best. He is worthy!

Put Your Trust in God

 Psalms 62:5-6 (amp)

My soul, wait only upon God and silently submit to Him; for my hope and expectation are from Him.

He only is my Rock and my Salvation; He is my Defense and my Fortress, I shall not be moved.

When our hope and expectations are directed toward anything or anyone other than God we set ourselves up to be ensnared by that ancient trap of offence.

Disappointment is defined as a feeling of sadness or frustration because something was not as good, attractive, or satisfactory as expected, or because something hoped for did not happen.

Disappointment is a precursor and bait for the deadlier dagger of offence. It’s the crack in the door that allows the seed of offence to flow in unchallenged. Once the seed of offence is planted by your enemy it begins to germinate and as it is reinforced by self-pity and an array of other feelings it grows into a horrid monster.

Have you ever been disappointed because somebody didn’t do something you thought they would do or should do? You assumed they had you on their mind or that they had your best interest in mind but come to find out they didn’t. You thought they would help you or at least ask if they could but your expectation was soon shattered by their lack of interest.

We sometimes become our own worst enemy when we open ourselves up to needless heart ache because we did not heed to the word of instruction God has given us.

Jeremiah 17:5-7 (amp)

Thus says the Lord: Cursed [with great evil] is the strong man who trusts in and relies on frail man, making weak [human] flesh his arm, and whose mind and heart turn aside from the Lord.

For he shall be like a shrub or a person naked and destitute in the desert; and he shall not see any good come, but shall dwell in the parched places in the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land.

[Most] blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is.

Put your trust in God, He will never fail you!

Help is Available

 John 14:26-27

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Before Jesus ever left the earth He made sure we would have access to all the necessary resources required to live a victorious Christian life. Two very major components for victory are mentioned in the above scriptures. Jesus spoke of sending the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost and His peace.

The Holy Spirit was sent by the Father at the request of the Lord Jesus. Jesus said He would be our Comforter or Helper. He would teach us all things and bring all things to our remembrance, concerning the things Jesus had spoken.

The Holy Spirit is a vital person in the lives of every born again believer. We need His uninterrupted help on a daily basis. We are to love Him and appreciate Him just like we love and appreciate Jesus and the Father. The Holy Spirit was sent to help us but if we never yield to or take advantage of His help we struggle needlessly through life trying to manage things alone.

Jesus also procured peace for us not a false since of being at ease that the world offers. Jesus left us true peace, a peace that surpasses all understanding. When you are yielding to the peace of God you are not troubled or full of anxieties and fearful.

As you go about your day today don’t forget you are not alone you are not without help. Take full advantage of all the Divine resources Jesus made available to you through His death, burial and resurrection. Rejoice and be glad you are on the winning team!

High Priority

 1Thessalonians 5:17

Pray without ceasing

Prayer is the conduit that helps divine resources and supply pass from heaven to earth. God provided every believer with the ability to pray. The Holy Spirit will also assist us with kingdom communication. We must know how to properly dialogue in God’s kingdom. When you properly communicate with someone there is an exchange that takes place. Failure to communicate with our Heavenly Father is deadly.

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4

We have been granted access to the very throne of God. God said COME BOLDLY. (Hebrews 4:16)

Talking with God throughout your day is vital and must never be taken for granted or seen as trivial. Remember your union and fellowship with Him should be the highest priority of the day, even if you have to put others on the line on hold.

Pray without ceasing!

True Riches

 Proverbs 10:22

The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

The word rich in that scripture means to prosper, to build up, to make straight or erect.

God does not tear or beat us down, nor does He degrade or devalue His people. He builds and causes what was lame to be make whole and what was crooked or broken to be made straight. God is a Healer not a destroyer.

We are so honored and highly favored to be a part of the great host of those chosen to be a member of the family of God. Our God is such a wonder, compassionate, faithful Father. He loves His children more than we could ever humanly comprehend. God would never do anything to discourage or bring harm to His family.

Ephesians 1:3-4 (amp)

May blessing (praise, laudation, and eulogy) be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) Who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual (given by the Holy Spirit) blessing in the heavenly realm!

Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love.

Now that’s true love!

If you have ever questioned Gods love for you, this should reaffirm and settle in your heart and mind how much He truly loves you. God is a giver not a taker; He is not a thief or a miser. The devil comes to steal, kill and destroy but God comes to bring life and life more abundantly.

The blessings of God never come with sorrow attached to them but rather joy and thanksgiving. It brings God pleasure to do good for His children.

Today would be a good day to thank and praise God for all the good things He has done for you. Go ahead and let all heaven and earth hear and see your joyous praise for your God, who is worthy!

The Cost of Being a Disciple

 Luke 14:27-29

And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,

To be Jesus disciple is such a high honor and privilege. I don’t know of anyone else I would want to follow. Wherever He leads me I will follow because He truly is the Good Shepherd that gave His life for the sheep.

Many times the devil will try to deceive people into thinking it’s so hard to follow Jesus, saying things like, “But I’m not perfect”. If you want eternal life and the blessings of God you must count up the cost. To receive life you must give up everything associated with death. A life-style influenced by sin and death breed the miseries of the curse and follows a path of destruction. We must be willing to totally eradicate everything from our old life-style that does not align itself with God and His kingdom, no matter how much we enjoyed doing or saying it.

What we receive from God in Christ is far greater than anything we can try to hold on too from our old life of sin. So, count up the cost and know it is all worth it!

The Mystery of Godliness

 1Timothy 3:16

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

To be excited about this verse of scripture you must first have some revelation in the knowledge of God. This scripture reveals to us that God was manifest in the flesh. Oh, what joy and gratitude that scripture stirs within my heart. God was manifest in the flesh, Hallelujah!

Do we realize what an awesome wonder that was? God, the creator of all things came to earth and manifest Himself to His creation. Oh what a joy to think on. The Alpha and the Omega, the great I AM,God Himself standing in our midst, oh what an awesome privilege.

When we take time to meditate on the wonders of His person and allow God through His word and by His Spirit to reveal greater dimensions and depths of Himself to us our hearts will leap for joy in remembrance of what He has done and continues to do for us.

Philippians 3:8

Yes, furthermore, I count everything as loss compared to the possession of the priceless privilege (the overwhelming preciousness, the surpassing worth, and supreme advantage) of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord and of progressively becoming more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him [of perceiving and recognizing and understanding Him more fully and clearly]. For His sake I have lost everything and consider it all to be mere rubbish (refuse, dregs), in order that I may win (gain) Christ (the Anointed One).

The Joy of the Lord is Your Strength

Nehemiah 8:10

Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our LORD: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

When things in life seem to go array, the first thing that we seem to compromise is our joy. What a wrong chose that is. Joy is our strength and was given to us by God to be a help during times of distress and temptation. Joy is a fruit of the Spirit. Joy is vital to our existence and victory. In the human body we have vital organs that we cannot live on the earth without. Our bodies require a heart; we cannot live without one. If the heart shuts down the body will die. When the heart is diseased or only functioning at 40-50%, it negatively affects the whole body.

The word vital is defined as being extremely important and necessary, or indispensable to the survival or continuing effectiveness of something.

The joy of the Lord that resides within our spirit is indispensable. You must never under estimate its worth and try to face life without it.

Jesus declared in John 15:11, “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.”

Let the joy of the Lord live big in you today and everyday!
